Liz because it is a state funeral they have to allow time for anyone from overseas to attend. They still need to decide on his final resting place which will be done today. From 11am this 3 morning 3 days of official mourning will start.

What does the official mourning consist of, do shops close, I expect banks and Government buildings?

The Council of Ministers plus the Prersident plus a member of his family will attend and decide on place of burial and the ceremony.

I expect that he will be buried next to Dr. Kuçük. I expect the flags to be at half mast and probably everyone will have a chance to attend. This means that government offices and courts will be closed probably after 10.30 and I expect some shops to close as well or remain open with minimum staff.

Almost all Cypriots respected him although some did not agree with him in later years. Thus I expect a huge turnout at the funeral. Let us all show our respect to this great man. I hope to be there.

A friend has just been to Erdeners Supermarket and been told they will close some time to-day until after the funeral, whether this is correct or translation they were saying the mourning period would be to-day until tues, maybe others can ask.

I know nothing about any lying in state - would love to learn. But I heard (and remember facts are not always 'facts') that the ceremony will be at the Selimiye Mosque in lefkosia and the Burial in the park opposite the State hospital. There is a memorial and a green area there.

as to timing and logistics, I am afraid I cannot help there. it would be good for people to line the route, but I don't know what the route is.

What an excellent bit of reporting by the Telegraph. I just wonder how long it will take for the RoC to prove to the world that it was all made up by a Turkish journalist and that it is simply a pack of lies?

Whenever the truth comes to the surface it is quickly stepped on by the South and that is the saddest part of all.

RIP Denktash, you gave us all your very best shot.

The news from Washington USA stated that the Turkish Cypriots have been left feeling numb.

didn't realise the connection elko. Burcu's photos are brilliant. I forgot to take my camera (used my mobile and don't knopw how to download, but my task as Press was to report - the camera men were dotted around lefkosia, . But where was Burcu to get the brilliant one of the crowd at the mosque. Upstairs of the shop opposite>? Really fantastic shots, and thanks to her for sharing them on FB

Marion,

Burcu and Koray were in Nicosia at 9 o'clock in the morning. They will climb up anywhere to take a good picture. Did you notice how they mixed black and white with colour in the same picture to capture the solemnity of the funeral?

yes elko, I did notice the use of black and white with the coloured flag. Very impressiv e. Actually had I my camera I would have climbed anywhere. As it was I stood with a load of other Press on a platform I was convinc ed would give out with the weight on it.
