We have a walk in shower and because our shower tap has been leaking (sorted, now fitted a new one), it has left the tiles white with limescale. I have tried to remove it with Jif, lemon and bleach and none of them have worked. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I bought a specific plastic bottle of lime scale remover from Starling last year and it worked a treat - it was for the toilet tho, but all I did was pour some over the lime scale and it disappeared in a matter of hours.

Can't remember what it was called otherwise I would give you the name, but they had it on their shelves, took me a while to find it tho

Be careful with the likes of Dropy, Calcor etc. because they should not come into contact with the chrome fittings of the shower or they may discolour them... Make sure you wear protective gloves and apply with a damp cloth... Leave to work on the limescale and wash off... again be careful and you may need to do a couple of treatments if the problem is really bad.

And remember the stuff will attack your grout the same way it will attack the limescale.

If you want just a small amopunt, mix some pool acid with warm (almost hot but not boiling) water (add the acid to the water not the other way round) and use that.

Cilit bang is safer (orange top one) Not cheap but it is safer to use and extremely effective. I use it weekly on all my chrome fittiings and the shower glass and it is a superb product.

Toilet duck (with limescale remover) works brilliantly but does discolour metal if its left too long

I have found that soaking a paper towel with your preferred cleaner and leaving it clinging to the limescale is very effective. It keeps the cleaner in contact with the limescale far longer, localises the contact, and saves a lot of elbow grease.

We got a bottle of stuff from the south. Cost around 5 euro but you only need a small amount on a cloth, one bottle lasts for like two years and i do my taps monthly. No discolouration its worked fine.

Its in Orphanides in a yellow bottle.

Por Coz from Supreme Catalkoy. They do 2 types of product:

A spray in dark blue plastic bottle which is fantastic for all chrome, stainless steel, kitchen sinks and quite good for the lime scale.

A bottle with photo on front which you use for the inside kettles and turkish tea pot. No fizzing just pour a little into bottom of kettle and watch scale dissolve. Ensure you rinse really well. Fab product

Try; Mr Muscle spray on limescale remover. It works really well.

You may find it written in English on the bottle

but if not in Turkish it says

Mr Muscle Kirec Sokucu

I think most supermarkets sell it but if you are in Catalkoy you can get it in Supreme.
