The duty allowance for coming into TRNC is 200 ciggarettes and 1 ltr of spirits.

Of course this may vary depending on if it is a full moon or not!!

Rate for other goods is 260 euro per person.

You are not allowed to bring single items over that value with duty potentially being charged. ie share the value between 2 persons. It is one person one item.

terry,

nobody will ever say you will have NO PROBLEMS.

If you have something that is a bit iffy that customs do not like you always stand to loose the lot. But that happens anywhere you travel through customs.

If you have less than 260 euros per person in value of toys then ...............

Be sensible. I assume you have a place here then you know what the authorities on both sides at Metehan are like. Customs people do not like people taking the whotsit and I think you will understand what I mean.

By asking here you are already showing a sensible thinking mode. I am sure you will be fine wants you sit down with all the info. Please let us all know how you get on cos next year people will ask the same again and you experiences are their advice.

Best wishes

David

Goods to the value of €135 per person coming back across to the North. There was talk of this limit being increased, but it hasn't happened yet.

It doesn't specifically say 'per adult', but it may depend on the custom's officer you get.

hi terry its 275 going from north to south and 135 from south to north. went over tuesday and they stopped every car think they are looking for electrical items and it was so busy, i have never seen so many turkish cars in ikea car park, as everyone tells you its who you get on the day. a friend of ours came from paphos with a 10,000 pound generator gave a bribe to the greek side and a bribe turkih side and was waved through. i am not suggesting that you bribe them but just to show they can work together. happy xmas to you and your family

Terry the ciggies are the same price in the north, so i would not bother bringing them over.

Lilli,

I do not wish to correct you but a couple of weeks ago they changed south to north to 260, (or 270) have they changed it back?

There was a big issue couple of months ago when they decided not to comply with Green Line policies but I am sure they now comply.

There is a large notice on top of the TC police cabins when crossing from South to North stating the limit is 260 Euros going from NORTH to SOUTH. Just look up when approaching the cabin for checking your passports on left hand side. Why have they put it there? As far as I'm aware, they have not changed the limit when bringing in goods from the South so it is 135 Euros per person.

Certainly €135 per person South to North, came back this week and was asked how much I'd spent. Fortunately it was just over €100 so OK but I did check the allowance with him.
