Report in the Guardian states the backers of a new national flagship to be used by the royal family are to launch a public appeal for funds. Based on the cost of the royal yacht @ £60m, it would buy:

* 2254 nurses (on annual medain wage of £26,614)

* 3065 ambulance staff (exc paramedics on annual median wage of £19572)

* 2875 student tuition fees for a full 3 year degree

* 3 Royal weddings (based on £20m for Wills & Kate)

What would you like to see the money spent on?

Anything sensible to benefit the needy. The royals can well afford to pay for their own boat.

The money would never go to the nurses/firemen/forces etc. etc. it would go to the scrounging underclass that takes most of the money.

How many yachts could you buy if there was no financial benefits to asylum seekers, illegal imigrants, fraudulent claims and corrupt politicians

My guess would be a whole new fleet ????

Even if there were no financial benefits given to fraudulent claimers, would anyone be interested in contributing financially to a Royal Yacht? Money diverted to one of the richest family's in Britain. I think not!

It is not just the cost of purchasing the yacht which in itself will be very costly but the up-keep, security and crew will also cost a significant amount.

Britain, home of the have nots and have yachts.

'' it would go to the scrounging underclass that takes most of the money''

You were of course meaning, the Royal Family, CEOS of companies who take annual performance pay rises of 60% while their companies stocks fall,MP's and their allowance cheating,Bankers ,Tax dodging multi millionaires and British tax dodging property renters and bank account holders in TRNC.

most of them are well educated and therefore cannot use ''underclass'' as an excuse, as they know exactly what they do.

Well it's a marriage made in heaven, what timing, it is so fortuitous as it happens there's a recently unemployed ship's captain looking for a new command and the Royal Yacht Costa Concordia II would be just the ticket...
