If Kibtec had any respect they would not have done this in the official week of mourning of Rauf Denktas. It is disrespectful, not only are they guaranteeing themselves not having jobs, they are also effecting other businesses, I hope that they are proud of themselves, they deserve to be privatised. People keep saying about making sure that the local population is employed, and they are making it harder for foreigners, but this is why. Wake up Kibtec, this is not helping your cause, do you really think that people will be behind you now??

If Kibtec realy felt they needed to strike, it should not of been this week,in respect of a great man and founder of TRNC Rauf Denkash they just dont have no idea at all how things should be done,

It just goes to show that they have no respect, they are only interested in making sure they keep their job...one which takes 10 of them to do what any private enterprise would have one person doing!

My feeling is that every private enterprise should refuse to serve any Kibtek employee or his family, let's see how they like it when they can't buy food, clothes, use their mobile phone. All these private companies have to work hard to survive here, public sector employees haven't a clue what hard work is!!!

I agree, Whatever the rights and wrongs of the case for striking, it was really disrespectful to hold the strike during the mourning period. Rauf Denkas dedicated his life to the interests of the TRNC, and this strike cannot help but damage its reputation. I suspect that the fact that it was, surely, the coldest week of the year had more to do with the timing - I am just thankful at least we had some sun to make things less gloomy and to operate sonar water heating.

I am led to believe that they are among the best paid workers in the TRNC anyway so what is their beef?

birdman,

you are probably correct, the people who provide the basic services ( electricity, gas etc ) are well paid and as a result , of government inaction, can hold a country to ransom. It's the same all over Western Europe,, Ronald Reagan took on the air traffic controllers in America years ago...and by, hanging tough...defeated them. There is a lesson there !

I am not a supporter of the Kib-tek strike but to be fair to the union, they announced a long time ago that they will go on strike the day privitisation bill goes to parliament. Perhaps the Coucil of Ministers should have postponed it until after Friday. The religious ceremonies in mosques throughout in TRNC took place in candle light which was a shame.
