Hi all,I have been here for 5 years and read most of the forums going and finally decided to put finger to keyboard. In hindsight it seems that we have been very lucky,We looked on the internet and found a property we liked at a price we could afford so we decided to come out and look.On the developement was 1 half built property the rest was stakes in the ground.Within 2 days we had paid a deposit then duly paid our stage payments. We then came out early living in rented accommodation until our Villa was finished,2 months earlier than the date given. It took me 3 years to get my permission to buy,but 6 months after that i had a phone call from the builder saying my kocans were ready for transfer which we now have.I find the cyproit people very genuine and feel totally safe here.my question is are we unique??

We consider ourselves very lucky after reading some of the plights of others, but it gives hope to others out there that not everyone out here is a rip-off merchant.I wouldnt suggest to anyone either that they do it the way we did we were naive but fortunate.good luck to all.

That is very refreshing news and i wonder if things like that happen now 5 years down the line? would you be able to mention your builder, developer or lawyer please as this could be of assistance to others?

Anyway, I was tricked m'lud... from the title of the thread I thought it was bound to be the dirty details of a visit to a 'Nightclub'...

As it is... well done that man!

Bill,

Well done - now your only problem is that most of the planet doesn't recognise your deeds !

I can assure you our deeds are not worthless, as they are pre 74, and we bought from English people who had started to build, but had to leave.

Louthlass,

How did you verify your deeds are genuinely pre-1974?

Only Pikey's allowed to have proper deeds, the rest of us are carpet-bagging scumbags, right Eric?

Sorry about that, yes we came here in 2004, bought a donum and a bit of land, then had a reputable builder build us a hoose. We got our permission in January this year, paid taxes in June and got Kocan in October. BUT, we did do research first, knew of the pitfalls you could fall into, AND, were advised to avoid estate agents and builders' developments, something we were glad we stuck to.

frontal,

Put it this way - those who have gone to the trouble of securing pre-74 titles are definitely NOT carpet bagging scumbags.

People going through their worst nightmares in the north of Cyprus should in some cases ask themselves whether they don't deserve every minute of it - and much more to come.

frontal: "...then had a reputable builder build us a hoose..."

But did you subsequently arrange to have a moose loose aboot it?
