Hi everyone,

We need help here. Flying to Paphos and had thought about renting a car from the airport to drive to Bogaz. OOops.

Can anyone give us advice on how to do this journey easily and economically? Do we need a visa to cross the border.

We keep coming up against brick walls :-(

Please help - we are coming out on January 13th as we have purchased an apartment at Seaview.

Cheers

Clark and Anita

You can either get a taxi from the North to collect you, or go with your first idea of hiring a car in Paphos (remembering the problems that may happen).

The route is fairly easy (though long) and if needed I can pass it on.

If you haven't already bought your ticket, book with CTA and fly into Ercan in the North - 20 minutes from Bogaz, it will save you loads of grief!

CTA have some VERY good deals on at the moment.

just follow the SIGNS - and take a look onto your Cyprus Map. from phaphos to larnaca from larnaca to nicosia from nicosia to kyreneia (or whatever the gcs call girne) but dont drive to girne, after the border follow the signs to famagusta on the famagusta road take the salamis junktion and follow the boğaz sign. you will drive approx 3-4 hours. dont forget to tell the car rental company that you will drive into north cyprus and ask if it is ok. at the gc/tc border you will get your visa without any fare or additional cost. dont forget to buy insurance for your car at trnc border. Remark: you should have known this before! You have bought in TRNC without knowing all this? unbelievable...... The only brick wall is you.

Clark. I will Email you a sensible route to Bogaz that does not involve going through Nicosia.

Clark & Anita,

don't forget to pack your brain, shorts and T shirt.. After Edinburgh it'll be boiling!

Actually it gets quite chilly at night so don't forget some warm clothes...

Bogaz Car Hire used to do taxi for £60 each way to Paphos. Sorry do not know the telephone number but you will get it through Bogaz Hote. I have a hire car from Petsas I always hire the cheap basic with no Air Con I always get a Golf or Astra no problems taking it across to NC you just need insurance which you buy at the border. The quickest way is through the Agios Nikolias border and it takes approx 3 hours from Airport to Bogaz. Hill Top will give you good directions. Enjoy your holiday the weather in Bogaz is lovely and hot during the day but bring the woolies for the night.
