Just had a speeding fine from delivered to the house. I think the location is 'Yavuz Çıkarma Plaj Önü' at least as far as I can tell / guess from the letter, my Turkish is not good.

Does anyone know where this is / what camera this is? Thanks

yeah, have worked it out. Escape beach came up on google maps for that address and there is a camera right near there on the road and I was in that area on the date and time in question so I guess its a fair cop Only 11km over the 65 limit. Will have to be more careful in the future.

Thanks for your help Bluechalk.

Used to be known as the "Landing Beach" in English, and (following hasty check of Dictionary) çıkarma means 'landing". Such a shame they saw fit to change the name as it commemorated an important historical event.

My wife and other Turkish Cypriots that I know still call it Çıkartma Plaji.

I wish there was never a necessity for a landing or escape as I knew it as Bambi Beach many years ago when it was one of the most beautiful, pleasant, and quiet places on the Island.

Prior to that it was known as "5 mile beach" - being five miles from Kyrenia.

I have asked my wife and father-in-law and none of us have heard of this "important event". Can you please enlighten us Groucho?

Msg 7 - "The escape was an important event too"

As far as I know, the owners of the said beach club called it "Escape" only because, according to the club's web site, its customers are able to "free their minds, escape, ... "
