Missed mot test date

As i will not be in Norther Cyprus when my mot date is due, it appears to be due 28-2-20012 to 8-3-2012, will not be able to do it until i return in mid April ,is this a problem?.

I think you will find if you look at the dates for MOT of private cars then they do not start until August. Those due before are commercial vehicles and buses etc.



Thats how I see it anyway..OZEL I think means private...

That is group D on the MOT date list

I believe your MOT is backdated to when it ran out, so you would just pay for the month or mnths you missed. Hope I am correct.

MOT dates are in the set list in a subsequent post.

If you miss the set period for your vehicle then as elko says, you pay double.

At the same time if you are stopped by the police and they discover that your MOT has expired, they can fine you. Unfortunately you can only take your vehicle for testing during the set time period and not before.

However, there are people here who will get the MOT test done for you in your absence, for a fee. Someone should be able to offer details of such a person.



It may be cheaper to do things this way rather than get fined.

Don't forget you will usually need to get the vehicle emission test done for your vehicle.

My last MOT cost about 100tl and the emission test was 30tl.

We will not be on the Island when our MOT is due. We go home a couple of weeks before. Can we do it early? If not could we get someone to do it for us? Unfortunately this would involve emissions and tax as well.
