Just past a house during a walk and saw a baby husky in the middle of the road, and next tot he house was a pen with about 3 big dogs and 10 little puppies :(

They were so squashed in there, I wanted to take the puppy so bad but the lady opened the door and i put on a act saying the puppy was in the road and Im just returning him...that lady doesnt deserve a dog if she has no time for them :(

I feel so bad they looked so helpless and upset :( I wish there were animal control in cyprus :(

Anyone I can call for animal cruelty ? OTHER than KAR....

I hope you do realise putting this on here will not solve the problem you may have seen, but telling the people owns the mentioned animals might.............still..........pass tha back seems an easier option!

msg 3;

I have pedigree dogs and WILL NOT put another stray animal in my house. If you are happy enough 'homing' animals whom are perfectly happy(they dont know no different and street wise)to be out there in SHITE,be my guess............just don't DUMP'em outside my road on your way 'home',when you're finnished.

Streetwise animals are usually animals that have been abused! please keep your PEDIGREE's that can make you a lot of money, pretty and pert, and clean their SHITE away from my Streetwise animals! just don't dump your PEDIGREE's when you can't get the MONEY for them on your way "home"

Pedigree or Streetwise yorgozlu all DOGS/CATS/ANIMALS need someone to look after them! SHITE and all!

HOWEVEVR,I was merely pointing out the easy/pass the back route the poster has taken, rather then doping something for the mentined animals.

then again, dont worry too much...........spent half my life learning the way the world runs and looks like the next half going to be frasturating and dissapointing, trying to TWACH 'you' lot.

ps.Reminds me of the customers I had in UK.If I served them something that wasn't up to scratch, the whole town knew before me!!!!!!!!!!!!

I passed with my car today to see jus in case the puppies havent squeezed out and get hit by a car. The puppy was a bit fat, but that could also be worms if they women hasn't took any of them to the vet, mind you her house is very dirty and the house looks out of shape. I think she's just trying to make money off of the puppies.

:( She probably doesn't even care where they end up.

Another sad thing is, her husband is the belediye, I cant really complain on them anymore :/

And Yorgozlu abi

I know it wont help if i post it on cyprus44. But To tell you the truth it seems like the only ones who do care about this stuff is cypruss44 and their members. Again cypruss44 is a site where you can share what you witness in North cyprus as well. And make some friends.

Re yorgozlu,

Have you not realised yet that no one appreciates your comments - unhelpfull, heartless and a waste of everyone's time. I, personally, find you a disgusting human being.

Re msg 1, I totally understand your disgust at this, I have real HATE for these people, I would gladly love to put these so called 'owners' of there so called 'pets' through the same thing. Plus i would of most likely taken the dogs and given the old hag a slap in the face.

Sorry if me being so upfront offends some, but hey ho. If I was on the road, had an animal or old Cypriot stuck up, nastiness lump, I would definitely miss the animal. Let the lump see how it feels to be helpless, hurt, dying.

I hope these dogs are saved.

Where was this Yel2011? I am more than happy to help.

I have one pedigree dog (English Springer Spanial) because I love the nature of the dog - he is 13 years old now. I also have 2 street dogs which I picked up from the streets here.

They are all living in the house with us. They are all part of the family and are great company. Some people do not know the joy that can come from owning a pet (whether it has a pedigree or not) their love is unconditional.

My 2 Cyprus Street dogs are so loving and love cuddles and are now very playful and responding well to Dog Obedience commands. They make us smile a lot as they are just like children and their antics can be very funny.

Joanne what do you mean by 'I have real HATE for these people.... or old Cypriot nastiness lump.'

I am sick of these old 'expat goats' behaving like the sun shines out of there backsides. The UK is full of cases of animal abuse. Just last week 19 horses were discovered emaciated near Darlington. Some thug in London posted a video of him and his girlfriend on youtube feeding a kitten live to a snake and the list goes on! By all means criticise individuals but don't tar a whole community. Leave your RACIST at home!

Re msg 10, SWCathy,

I totally agree, if you take animal in it becomes apart of the family. We have a german shepard plus cats take in from the streets here.

If you can't look after them then don't take them in the first place. Having dogs shut in a tiny disgusting cage doesn't make you look special, doesn't make you look 'hard'. It makes you look like the cruel, nasty pieces of sh*t you really are. They would have a better life on the streets.

It disgusts me, some people don't deserve the love of an animal.

Re mg 11, Visitor,

I am fully aware of the animal abuse all over the world, including UK. But here it it seen way to often, maybe because it';s a smaller place, or maybe because the people are just not interested in anything else apart from there selves (the case being the same as UK).

And just for your information, I am writing on here using my nan's name, I am not an 'old expat goat', I am 25 yrs old, still living in the UK, but (despite all the crap) still visit Kyrenia 2-3 times a year.

. Before you use the easiest reply of calling me racist, my dad is Turkish Cypriot. O, and he loves animals, but quite rightly not all people.

Unlike a lot of the folks on this forum I have several pets, including a diabetic cat, two dogs, chickens etc. None of which I have ever managed to loose or abandon.

So Joanne aged 25 going on ....Stop your nasty racist stereotyping. There are good and bad in all communities including you come from!

Visitor: You're good with words, I've been told... Very clever also, 25 going on (yep, going o to 26 BIG CLAP for you).

But saying that, I also hope I ever 'bump' into you. Unfortunately your are known. Why you are trying to argue when we have the same views God knows. Again, just one of them ppl I suppose. But having met you (which I know you are completely aware of), I will not go on.

Re msg 1, again, I would really love to help these animals, whether it be I can take one back to UK next week or my nan can take one in. I really hate the thought of these dogs being kept in these cruel situations. I don't 'turn a blind eye' to it in UK an defo won't be doing it either.

as you suggest in your previous post. I am asking Simbas one more time to remove those defamatory comments.

Yel2011;

I was only pointing out that if you've seen something like this and it bothered you, approach the owners of the dogs and try to help them to see the better ways of keeping thier animals/pets.I bet posting this on here has changed nothing about the concerned animals.

Knock on their door, make up some stupid excuse and go over the dogs and if need be offer to make them little more comfortable. You'll se alot of difference in next few days as the owner will make an effort even if it was to be out of embarresment.

Yorg is right , the best you can do is approach the owners in a nice way about the dogs.

If they are in someones garden, have shelter food and water, i think there is little that can be done about it.

Animal abuse in this island makes me disgust!

They can't be humans! What a shame!

And there's nothing you can report to!

I wish that approaching the owners politely would wortk, but more ofter than not it doesn't. We have a solicitor not far from us who has 14 dogs in a very small garden. They get out frequently and so far have torn a kitten to shreds, very nearly done the same a very small dog of mine, torn a pup to shreds----the list goes on. People cannot walk past the house safely. The police have seen the dogs and said it's not their problem, Alsancak Belly have been up but wouldn't go near the property "becasue we're frightened" and in any case as she is a Solicitor, they will do nothing. In the mean time, the pups are getting larger and before long we'll have to cope with 14 large wild dogs close by.

Another TC has a German Shepherd Cross, she has recently had 6 pups. The property has no fences or wall and very soon the pubs will start leaving the mother. Yet another collection of wild dogs in the area. Please don't suggest people talk politly to the owners - they just don't care

You may well be right but I still beleive trying it the nicw way first should always be the way on.

and,by the way,not all cypriots are same, just like not all brits are animal lovers.Just look around how many dogs, cats are being abondoned by them as they leave the island to go back 'home'.

Perhaps thats why some "Brits" abandon their animals? because as cypriotStudnt says "There's no-one to report to" no-one cares! what a sad situation for any civilized country!

And as for Pedigree animals reared in such a country! may Artemis help them!

TRNC,re 33;

No reason is good enough to abondon your animal/pet.I class those 'brits' whom are supposed to have come from a 'civilised' country even LOWER,since especially they should know better.

As for pedigree dogs, the difference is in the behavior and character, just as it is with so called humans, whom are mostly beyond help.

mess. 29 I agree. Although being shut in 24/7 is not ideal by any means, it isn't "cruel" legally, as long as food and water is provided. There are 2 large alsations caged up near me - never taken for a walk - but they are fed and watered and actually look pretty healthy in the physical sense. Mentally though - a different story. Constant pacing - barking almost non-stop day and night = unhappy dogs, but cruel in the eyes of the law? No.

Well people who are disturbed by animal abuse can meet and set up ''a thing'' for people to report these cases and help those animals and teach a lesson to those disgusting people who are not taking care of their pets properly!

Some people don't even have respect to people here, why would they respect animals?

And there is no LAW for animals' sake in this country! What a shame!

Msg. 37. I think that somewhere on the Statute on the books of the TRNC isl a Law which makes it illegal to be cruel to animals. I think it dates back to 1947 and the fine was/is 2tl. This might be an urban myth of course, but I suspect not. It just hasn't been updated or removed from the Statutes. Pity it can't be updated and the Government have the will to implement it. Perhaps someone with access to this type of information could check this out to see if I'm right or not?
