Beware of the man who goes by John Hawker, he raises parrots.

He is wanted in the UK

Works illegally here.

He rented a house from me and left me thousands of TL's in bills and unpaid rent and maintenance fees.

Don't do business with hum, be warned.

He stole money from his Ex-wife and son, thousands of GBP.



Turns out the man rents places every few months and leaves bills and damage everywhere he goes.

He made quite an impression on me so I never asked to see that the bills have been paid, after all he is not a college student.

I was good to him, made sure he felt at home and used me but this will catch up with him very soon because until I am paid all that he owes me, he won't be able to leave the island and I have plenty of time to wait, I'm not going anywhere.



It is just disgusting to do this especially to a good landlord like me, he even stole my black-out and curtains and left numerous holes in my walls and his parrots left parrot-crap everywhere.

The man must be deranged but even sick and crazy people pay their bills and have some integrity.

I've never heard of this chap, nor do I know John1234, who started the thread.

It worries me deeply that these kind of comments can be made on a public forum. They may be totally true. Equally, they may be totally false, I have no personal knowledge one way or the other. If true, pursue him legally. If false, it could destroy an innocent persons character.

Surely it would be better to give such warnings in general terms without naming a specific person. Enough detail could be given so that the person is easily identifiable if they try to pull the same stunt again with someone else.

Can I emphasise, I do not know the poster or the person he talks about. My point is simply that a public forum is open to abuse in many ways, character assasination being one of them. This could potentially be a very good example of that.

How can you prevent him leaving the Island until he has discharged his indebtedness to you? I ask because a student called CANSU (first name, as someone has said, enough detail to recognise her if she tries to rent from you, but not enough to identify her, if not) has left hundreds of pounds of debt by not paying electricity, water, maintenance or, of course, rent...with one excuse after another...

John Hawker is John77 and he is a thief and a fraudster. I have all the proof in the world, anyone can ask who they want on the Harmony site in Karsiyaka where John lived in my home for 4 months.



The man is purely a con artist and I unfortunately fell in his trap but again, this is why I have a rental contract and copy of passport, he can't leave the island without settling his debt with me and he will be fined by the police.

I really am not concerned, I just wanted to warn all potential renters or potential people who may want to hire this man.

BEWARE...some people are just simply hollow and rotten inside and out and he has behaved in a horrible and inhumane way.

I did not hack his Facebook account, I have no need, this is another lie of his.

Sad to report that I have had three Mainland Turkish separate renters. The first disappeared with 2 x Douvets, A Hoover super de-luxe, owing a months rent and numerous other household items. The second left owing two weeks rent and the third left owing 239Tl electricity (Metered) and one months rent ! As I was only charging them 200 TL rent per month it leaves a nasty taste in the mouth, consequently I will not rent to Mainlanders again, sad to say.

we have the same issue with our renter. He is on and off the island but now owes over £1000 stirling in rent and used our electric without changing to his name. We have closed the account now so hopefully that will work. His latest was a bounced cheque to the agent (who is also pretty lame). Does anyone know if we can stop him leaving the island if he owes us money and has bounced a cheque? We just want him out. Not that worried about the money tbh but if we can scare him out quickly rather than spend 6 years in court...it would be reassuring. I empathise with John1234!!!

I think photocopies of passports might be in order, at least then you will know the renter is who they say they are... The rent for the entire period plus a bond seems better.

Regardless of what this guy has or hasn't done.

This is not the first time i have heard about renters leaving the place in a mess with outstanding bills. Its becoming more like the norm here.

What i would suggest is taking a copy of the renters passport. If any damage is done or bills unpaid then collect the proof.

That way if you get a UK address for them when they have left, you can go to county court, i would have thought.

Someone tried to pull a fast one on me a few years back, when i explained i would take him to court in the Uk unless he paid, he soon paid up. Different situ but it worked.

I think the golden rule is before taking someon to county court make sure you know what they have asset wise. I know what your saying and you can win all you like but if the person has no money or assets its going to be hard getting anything from them.

We have this problem with non payment of sevice charges and with leaseholders it very difficult. I will say normally the threat of court action makes them pay up.
