I get a tingle and numb feeling in my back for a few seconds for the last 5 days. What has caused this?

Unless we have a chiropractor or a GP on this forum my advice would be to seek advice from a professional....

Really need to seek advise from a Doc

If it was a cold or flu question I'm sure

Many ppl could answer it but when it comes to

Tingling & numbness anywhere on the body ( apart

From of course laying on your hand or leg funny then we know the obvious answer)

Then needs to be seen by a professional

Quite soon I would say!!

Hope you get better soon!!

Only a doctor can help with a diagnosis. Do not ignore these symptoms, you may cause yourself further injury without realising and then your recovery could be long and painful.

Nip it in the bud now.

periwinkle. When I had a trapped nerve in my back I didn't have tingling I had real bad pain and acapuncture did cure it but you need to find out what is causing the tingling first.

It is now nearly a week since you first posted on here and you are no better but still asking for advice, why dont you just go to the hospital and get checked out from experts with knowledge on these sypmtoms rather than just guesses from forum members?.......

Thanks for this posting of the Health Forum, various specialists doctors are recommended under this posting ie a "Neurologist, Opthomoligist-Neuro and a spine doctor. It could be a pinched nerve, but it could be a lesion on the brain interphering with the area's that are going numb. Doctors are good for ignoring things, so take things into your own hands. You want an MRI of the Brain, The C-Spine and blood tests to rule out everything else. You need a Neurologist". Thats why I posted message 12 !!

Philbailey and Cooper reply. How unhelpful and rude.

Periwinkle, its now over a week since you posted this query and you still don't appear to have done anything but 'internet' diagnosis. If you are so concerned you NEED to make an appointment to see a neurologist.

Don't worry about it. If you don't understand that you should see a doctor and not waste you time trying to get an answer to a medical problem on here it is just to late. The brain has gone.

Correct spelling.....Amitriptyline. So that means no physical damage. Nothing to worry about then.

Sciatica, you should see the size of mine! No more leg-over but flat on my back making for interesting painless movements!

See a Doctor.

So, he prescribed Amitriptyline for my tingling and numbness so he said. Waiting to see what your comments were.

Looked up Amitriptyline on the internet.....what are they.....for depression! Dont you think he should have told me that. Also it says be careful if you are taking other medication, even supplements, he didnt even ask.

The professor could not speak English very well so its all a mix up in the end.

Simbas and Spider.

PS Why the internet didnt say that. Tad worried about mixing them with my other supplements. Suppose I could get a translator to phone and ask him.

Maybe this little bit of copy and paste might help.

Any illness that has physical symptoms, but has the mind and emotions as its origin is called a psychosomatic illness. Although you may be told that it's "all in your head", these illnesses are not imaginary. The aches and pains are very real, but because your doctor is looking for an actual physical cause, they are very tricky to diagnose and treat. The key is to look for a source of stress in the person's life that the person is not coping with.

To many Dr its a guessing game when it come to treatment. If something they give is not working, after a some time they try something else. again and again.:(

At the end of the day its your choice to try the meds or not.?
