Hi guys. I remember my father telling me that there used to be large wild mountain cats in his village of Kaleburnu when he was a little boy. they were very illusive and even back then sightings were rare. He believe that they have become extinct now, but I was just wondering if anyone has seen any in the last few years. this theory facisnates me.

We go to Kaleburnu sometimes as my friends sister lives there. Her husband and his mother have lived there all their lives. I will ask them. There is also a guy, who has a little folk museum there, now that is a really fascinating place!! His name is Kemal Deveci. He knows everything about Kaleburnu. He speaks Turkish and Greek.

We tried to see if it was possible to organise a Tractor Safari there, but have not finalised it yet. Could organise a guided tour of the area for you with an English/Turkish speaker to help. If you or anybody else is interested, call me on 05338206798

Big wild cats still abound in Cyprus. I have two at home who are worse than wild. Livid, as I have put them on a diet.

Sounds to me as if they were "Turkish VAN-Cats" which grow to enormous sizes.

Siddika & Dippersgirl.....Thought you might like to look at this Tribute to the people of Kaleburnu. Nothing about the cats but good photos and music by Ibrahim Tatlises.
