in the UK we know our politicians are many thing and say it to them not often enough

But A 35-YEAR-OLD man appeared at the Nicosia District Court yesterday to face ‘public nuisance’ charges after calling President Demetris Christofias an ‘idiot.’

According to police, the 35-year-old was driving his car on August 3 last year when he saw the presidential limo, poked his head out of his window and allegedly shouted: “Idiot President, quit”.

He was charged with being a public nuisance “by committing an act not authorised by law…which as a consequence disturbed the practice of the public’s rights,” the prosecution said.

The 35-year-old pleaded not guilty and will appear in Court on June 5.
