Hi both myself and Vic are getting a lot of emails of late this past week ! They are all going into spam and we have not opened any, but they are coming from names we know ie; Rita and Grace saying hi Maria or hi nanny Hi granddad etc to fool us into thinking they '' are safe ! ''. Just wanted to know if any others have been getting some similar or is it just us ? One from a shaa azz saying important too Thanks for your help. Oh and I am not asking if you have received any from us because we have received replies to emails sent. But these few do seem suspicious. Spider,X

Yes, there is a spate of these going around at the moment. You are right not to open them. I just delete them straight away.

Hi Spider, it sounds like one of your family email accounts has been hacked into. You could point this out to them as they may not know. One of the reasons this happens is the use of free anti virus software, I would always use a anti virus that you have purchased, it cost aprox $35 a year with some giving 2 years for this price. I found this out while I was in Turkey last year, had to have my computer cleaned. Hope this is of some use. Mel.

I did ask my granddaughter if she sent any and she did not ! the very strange thing is that none of our contacts re; family and friends have Vic's email address. He sends very little from it. And to be honest has only just set it up to start using a little while ago. At the most he's only sent a few emails. So they are not from any contacts he has. I guess its just internet life ! I can understand it from out joint email and just though it odd that he was receiving them. Some will say '' Not odd at all '' So pleased he is becoming more aware. Spider,X

| Remember Spider, whoever sends a email that is from another person, ( reply ) ( a joke or some other info they wish you to share ) they are sending the virus via someone else, and internet protocol will be shared. as I have said in my earlier email, if you have a free anti virus you are not covered for this sort of attack and lots more. | No anti virus software offers 100% protection. In my personal opinion it is not necessary to use a paid for version of the many anti virus programms out there and certainly an up to date free version will offer more protection than an outdated paid one. With software like AVG the anti virus protection is the same in both the free and paid for versions. The paid for version has additional features and protections in addition but if a new virus comes out that the free version can not detect then the paid version will also not detect it either, until its identified and an update provided. |

erolz. a paid version is updated throughout its life including all the extra items you pay for, I have only in the last two weeks convinced a friend who sends me jokes that his email account had been hacked, which now he has changed and gone to a paid version. It is not you computer that will stop a virus its the internet protection you have. I will never say you will be 100% safe that would be insane in this world but 80% will do for now. If you have a hotmail account at the moment you are more than 100 time more likely to get a virus than a gmail account, as hotmail has been hacked and it has been on the web news along with facebook and twitter as a way of getting a virus on your computer plus sharing your personnel details. If you are happy with your form of anti virus well be it, I will pay every time but only to a couple of suppliers which I will not name, you have to do the home work., Mel.

it seems my security must be safe they all go into junk Today I also realised that not everyone has their Facebook on safe mode. I could see and post on someone's photo's who were not on my friends list ! I could see all their photo's and even download them ! Thank goodness I did not do this. I understood. Although I do confess to having a little bit of fun from this. So please keep an eye on your facebook setting's. Spider,X

For someone like me who really has very little interest in how this works, and is a Luddite it can be a nightmare. The reminder to renew my ESTA (American Visa) went straight to spam so I am doubly careful.
