| Is anyone aware if you can renew a Barclays debit card before it expires whilst in the UK. |

| I think that if you say your existing card had been damaged, they will re-issue but the only problem with that is some institutions issue an exact copy of the original, with the existing dates if a replacement is requested before the expiry date. Why not phone them and say that you are going away and want your card renewed early as see if they can do it for you. |

| I have tried to email them but it keeps saying "not sent try again". Maybe Ill ring them on Skype and ask, if no one else knows on the thread. |

| It's a nightmare, best to wait untill they send you a new one. I ended up with two cards with different Nos. and two statments. Took ages to sort out. |

| well when my new one is sent to my friend in the UK not sure how to get it out to me! So easier if I can renew it in the Bank upon my visit before the expiry date. |

| Can't speak for Barclays, but I had no problem with First Direct. I simply told them I'd be out of the country for a while, and I'd be away when the card expired. The brought the reissue date forward without any problem. I've done the same with credit cards as well. |

| Try ringing Barclays at the overseas contact number on your card - have always found them very helpful. |

Ive rung them now. They said ring 2 days before arriving to order a newcard and it will be ready.
