Brilliant Rib-Eye Steak

On Saturday I bought 2 pieces of rib-eye steak from the butcher near Aydin Pharmacy (more or less opposite the Lapta/Alsancak Starlings). The steak he had on display was a bit thin for my taste so he got a full piece from the fridge and cut me a couple of 1.5" thick slices. Last night I grilled it - no preparation, just as it came out of the packet - 7mins each side for medium rare. It was absolutely beautiful - the best rib-eye I have ever had and I have had a lot. It was full of flavour and so tender I could have cut it with the back of a table knife. This guy always has good meat but this was something very special. It was particularly lucky that he had taken it from the fridge because he still had the rest and today I bought it - all 3.5 kgs.

So please don't ever tell that you can't get good beef in TRNC.

Always get our meat from him, glad he has gone back to being a butcher as Et Mart was not what he was best at. Never had any tough inedible meat from him yet and a very pleasant family.

No it is the butcher on the opposite side of he road and a bit down from Starlings in Lapta. He is very good and also will make up kebabs and burgers on request.

If you do visit him don't just look at what is on display - talk to him, tell him what you want and ask what he recommends.

Sounds good. Fed up of tough beef and trying to hunt around for tender beef. Will definitely go there.

I too bought 2 Rib-eye Steaks from him on the same day and they too were delicious. Thick and beautifully marbled, even the small amount of fat on the edge was sweet and tender.

Every piece of meat I have had from him has been tasty and so tender

I fully recommend this butcher as being the best by far that I have found in North Cyprus.
