Given that the Crown Prosecution Service has in effect ruled out prosecution in cases of assisted suicide of the terminally ill, would you assist in the suicide of a family member if they were terminally ill?

I think to a certain extent assisted suicide happens now.I know when my dad died in November the doctors seemed to know exactly when he would go.They gave him an injection and told me if i had any calls to make to make them now as Dad only had a few minutes to live.I am totally in favour of assisted suicide,

Paul.

When I go, I want to die in my sleep just like my dear old dad, and not screaming in fear and terror like the passengers of the bus he was driving just before it hit that petrol tanker.

I think it was hilarious, heard it before though. Come on Dodger, you're just upset 'cos you missed it!

Sorry I didn't respond in spirit to the original posting, just thought it was a strange thing to post on a North Cyprus travel guide forum!

My oldest son is in the RAF. He kills people for a living, but if I ask him nicely he will probably kill you for nothing.

We discussed euthanasia with my mother-in-law. She said 'But I'm perfectly healthy', I said 'well you shouldn't let that stand in your way!'

Yes, if it was legal I would assist a person to die, provided that this was their desire. I firmly believe we all have the right to choose but it is exactly that, individual choice. Euthanasia is a very complex issue and after much study I came to the decision that it is up to the person to choose death or not.

Today's announcement by the European Court of justice possibly makes this thread ever more relevant.

the title on this post prompted me to open it because it addresses such fundamentally complex and important ethical issues about how we view life. some of the comments are so superficial that I have skimmed over the rest until I came to the last entrance which is yours Pte Pike, and so I ask you what has been announce today?

thanks

Pike,

Very very poor taste... fancy nobbling this thread to further your cause over GC property rights.. I'm quite disgusted with you but sadly not surprised.

augusta,

http://cyprus44.com/forums/8637.asp

BTW some of the others have a go at me because I don't believe in seizing something that isn't mine. This is international law pertaining to Cyprus and moral responsibility, but to them it's being pro-Greek. You can make your own mind up.

Just supposing overnight all those Greeks came back to reclaim their properties from 1974.

Would there be dancing in the streets? General joy and an air of reconciliation?

I think i'm missing something here. Realpolitick perhaps?

If lots of TCs go back to Limassol, Pafos etc. will they be welcomed by GCs dancing in the streets?

No, I don't think I will ever be able to assist anyone to commit suicide because to me life is very precious and I believe in where there's life there's hope.

BTW, why do you people allow one single person hijack a thread for his own propoganda?

What you are doing is letting one person dictate to you what he wants to talk about and surprisingly you join him instead of telling to go and dioscuss the matter in the appropriate thread.
