Last week I left some kitchen rolls behind that I'd bought at the Karakum store. Not thinking I'd get anywhere with it but just to pacify hubby I went in yesterday with my receipt. The girl at the kiosk didn't speak any English and called the manager. When I explained what had happened they promptly produced a book where it seems everything handed in is logged. I was very impressed they were so organised! Anyway my kitchen rolls weren't recorded so after a bit of a discussion he came back to me and told me to go and get the same pack from the shelf. However, the pack of 8 I'd bought last week were out of stock so I returned with 2 packs of 4 expecting them to say, sorry but in that case you can't have any, or may be just one. Buy no, he told the girl behind the desk to ring it up with a refund against the kitchen rolls I'd left behind. I was really happy until she tried to take 1tl from me with no change for the 85krş difference! She seemed upset when I asked for it!!

According to the rumour mill, the old Astro in Alsancak is about to become a Lemar.

Hi everyone good evening.

Re message 1.

I'm pleased you were able to screw every last "penny" especially as I am certain it was a Lemar plot to have you forget the kitchen rolls in the first place.

They will know not to mess with the "Brits!!!" in future.

Keep up the good work Pippie and please post any other examples of your fair minded behaviour!!

I'm rather surprised this post has not generated more comments.

Could it be that message 1 above is supported by most users of C44?

I seem to be living in Lemar at the moment but I'm having ever so much fun reminding the girls how to add up!

Yesterday, 17krş due and was given 10 so had to remind her it's either 15krş or 20krş.

Today, 86krş due and was given 60, when challenged she took the 10 back and replaced it with 25krş! Challenged a second time and was given back the 10krş.

On Wednesday a girl tried to short change me by 16krş and when I asked for the change the Turkish guy behind me in the queue put his hand in his pocket and gave me the 10krş. I don't know if he did it because he didn't want to have to wait any longer in the queue or whether he was genuinely exasperated of the thought of me asking for my 4 pence change.

But think about it, if I go in to the supermarket 5 days a week and lose out on 4p every day, that's 20p a week, £10.40 a year. I'd rather give that to a discerning charity of my choice than give it to the supermarket.

I'm still hopef

I wonder why Brits have a bad name in TRNC, such generosity from Lemar too, they have gone up in my estimation

Hi Doug

Great reply. If I was the Manager of Lemar I would told her where to go. Bloody Cheek

If Lemar do what they did to Pippie to 100 customers that would be £20 a week or £80 a month made from taking a few kurush from customers. Times the amount of customers by 5 and you have £400.. not a bad little earner. Food for thought???

i find it unbelieveable that you actually go to lemar for this reason. and to say that you remind the girls how to add up is a bit rude and i guess you think that you adding up a few pennies makes you a smarter person than them. if something is 10tl15krs they take just the 10tl but i see you dont seem to mention that.

85krs? I would suggest that after they accepted your word that you forgot to place the rolls in your shopping back at the time of purchase and they provided replacement rolls you should be extremely grateful.

Msg11, they forgot the goods

the fact they replaced them

should be the point of the thread
