We don't need investors to build malls, resorts, casinos, we need sustainable projects with low environmental impact and jobs for locals who are prepared to put in an honest week for a decent wage.

well said Edward, perfectly worded if you don't mind me saying. We are in the process of opening a new local business which will hopefully lead to us employing some local people.

I agree more large scale developments could spoil the Norths beauty, especially if they end up, as so many do, empty concrete shells. There are enough unfinished villas and empty shops and the Government needs to realise that there is simply not the demand for such projects. Yet the Government does need to act, as the very things that bring revenue to the TRNC will soon be in competition from all these recent developments in the South. An increased number of planes are to land at Larnaca and Pathos from Russia as there has been a major drive to attract the Russian tourists. Four new casinos are to be built which may well attract gamblers who in the past have favoured the casinos of the North. Then there is the new British/Cypriot University at Pyla which again may attract students who may have gone North. http://www.cyprus-mail.com/cyprus/pyla-university-open-october/20120211 http://www.cyprus-mail.com/gambling/planning-ahead-casino/20120211
