I left his number yorgo , no need to post lol

Do you not have a female gardener ? Perhaps I might be wrong ! Think he will be getting booked up quick by the line dancers. We are thinking of using him ourself too. He works at the Club Samina Hotel if you cant find you phone. You must feel lost without a phone

With respect, Spider, paying someone slave labour rates is an abuse, in my opinion. I'm all for a bargain but I believe the the old saying The" labourer is worth the hire " in other words don't exploit a worker. If you can get someone to undercut the "standard " rate by 10 or 20 %...fine, but everyone who works is deserving of a decent wage. It's about human dignity.

Thank you Spider, I am sure that you are a decent person , I never said otherwise, I may indeed use him myself but I will pay him what I consider to be an honest wage, everyone deserves it . I will make sure that if I employ him, it will before he does yorgozlu 's garden , as he may be too knackered to be useful to anyone after working for him. In a human situation , all are entitled to their dignity.

Thank you again, Spider, I know that the vast majority of people on this forum are human beings who are , in all respects, decent and honourable, people. Only a few will exploit others.

Where do you get the idea that 15tl per hour is a slave labour rate? For a 40 hour week that is 600tl, and for a month is 2400tl - that is 70% above the minimum wage. The minimum wage is approx 8.2tl per hour for a 40 hour week.

If they do a good job (Mind you it's BIG if!) yes, i would reward them with a bit extra but i'd have to be pi**ed out of my head and or brainless to give 100% more!

And yes I will give hime a bell, even at that price.

Message 11: what unbelievable nonsense! The guy is presumably self employed and has to pay for tools/equipment, transport costs and all the other self employed expenses to go out to jobs. Also, given that this kind of work entails taking on jobs all over the place, he is hardly likely to be working for a straight 40 hour week but using up time in travelling. In addition, the original poster did not say that the guy charged 15TL per hour exclusively - he charges that on a regular, short hours gardening job. For garden clearance he charges 80TL 'even if it takes 2 days'. I do not know this gardener or the poster of this thread but I get mighty fed up with this nitpicking nonsense from Brits complaining about rates of pay that they wouldn't be prepared to get out of bed for!

Tools/equipment for gardening are hardly a massive outlay - mine cost me about 200tl and are still going strong after 8 years (say 1 year for a full time gardener or 4tl per week). 80tl for a garden clearance is obviously an introductory offer hoping for ongoing maintenance at 15tl per hour. My gardener uses a moped; he can get anywhere from Karsiyaka to Esenteppe in 30 minutes for 2tl and he has no other overheads because he uses my tools. He does his 2 hours per week on a single day per month so his travelling is minimal.

Finally, I did not in any way complain this rate of 15tl per hour - I commented about it being described as 'slave labour'.

I did not say that 15tl an hour was a slave labour rate. I commented on post no. 1 and the "up to 2 days work for 80tl" as being slave labour rates.

No need for apologies, Jovial John, I did not take offense and perhaps I was a bit imprecise in my original post. Cheers.

Messages 18-19 Oh dear. Why strange. ? I have not used his services as yet '' easy '' If I had I may well have posted ie; Very Good gardener

Vic dose our garden but I was thinking of a little '' treat for him '' perhaps getting Mustafa round to do ours. Like give Vic a break ! Vic may even feel like working along side him,get the job done faster and still give Mustafa a good days pay too. Anything else that you do not understand. The story is as.

Us line dancers were doing our practice. and in the coffee break Mustafa asked us all if we needed a gardener. I explained that my husband dose ours,so he asked me to ask my friends. I was thinking that if I posted on here Mustafa may well receive some phone calls for work. Blooming E'll I did ask for the thread to be closed. It was for information purpose and did not feel it needed a long drawn out thread !

How wrong was I Anyway his number is there if you would like to call him. I hope all is understood now.

Maybe if someone has contacted him already and has a date perhaps they could post if they were happy enough with his service or not, what they paid him and even what they gave him for lunch too

It would all be very helpful Here is a photo of our garden work that is ready to do. Perhaps someone could say low long this may take. 1 day, half a day ? Mr Spider would take his time,he's getting a little older now . :( http://postimage.org/image/6qvtn8a0n/ Before.

http://postimage.org/image/judyk09x3/ After We could turn this thread into a Garden Photo Thread if you wish. These were taken last year. Vic did all the hard work on his own. May I will call Mustafa To help out this year.
