Very hot, not scalding but too hot to use without mixing. Single matrix panel.

Ours is lukewarm and will be for a few months yet however we know some not far away with really hot water. We have always wondered about this any suggestions? We wondered if the heated water goes into the tank via convection and that the lagging on the tank was suspect?

The first thing some friends of mine did within a week of moving into their property was to go up and lag every pipe they could find on the roof. The difference it made was enormous. He did it with that yellow squidgy stuff that hardens quite quickly. Don't know what it's called, sorry.

ig,

I took one of the end covers of of our hot tater tank and found it only half full of insulation.

Went back to the place it came from and tried to explain, whilst getting the usual vacant stare.

Took some lagging away and packed it out myself, made a huge difference.

Wouldn't be surprised if there are dozens of tanks out there that could be a lot more efficient.

Panels have been cleaned. Just been informed lagging not needed in Cyprus only in countries of snow and ice.

Well if you want to keep a tank of water hot when it's stuck up on your roof and open to all weather conditions at this time of year it will need to be lagged. To say otherwise just doesn't make any sense.

Lagging all pipes connecting the solar panels to the tank works wonders too as the water constantly circulates around these pipes whilst it is being heated up.

Minimal lagging works fine in summertime but not at this time of year......

Where can you by the insulation and this yellow foam, normal expanding foam or what is it called?

This is a great idea.
