The building is at the back of Girne State Hospital. Coming from the town, take the turning left just before the hospital and follow the road around. You will see the hospital car park on you right but drive past it taking the next turning right then right again. About 30 yards up that road, on the right is the building.

The office is through main entrance and go left... it is signed. Hope this helps.

You will also need your MOT Cert.

If you can get the name of the 'bulldog' on reception (someone else's nickname for her, not mine but you'll understand why when you see her!) can you let me know please?

My ccar tax runs out on 31st March and therefore need to renew. However I need to go to Lefkosia to collect residency papers on 4th Apri so wondered what would happen if I waited 4 days to renew the car tax. Will I be penalised?

Don't worry, I don't think they let you renew before it runs out. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong!! You can't do your MOT before the date specified and I think its the same for the tax.

if tax is renewed within the month after it finnishes, there are no penalty charges, though it'll be backdated. If after a month, there are interest charges.

Many thanks. I will do them both together in one trip. With regards the car tax, I imported my car last April so presumably I don't need another MOT just yet but do I need another emissions test or does that also last 3 years?

Emissions are 1 year I believe. MOT's - you can check the list on the wall on the right when you enter the tax office by seeing if the first 2 letters of your car registration are there. It will show the date as to when your MOT is due. Do not assume that the MOT is every 3 years though as you will be fined if late!

I don't think the emission test is necessary for car tax, only thge MOT. if you check your reg at the MOT office look at the lower half on the list, the upper part is for HGV's. My tax runs out at the end of March and the lady refused to renew it. When i went to another window and explained to the lady there (who spoke english) that I was returning to the UK for 6 weeks she told the other lady to renew it, which she did!!
