Us chaps are notorious for leaving Christmas shopping till the last minute.

So what do we give to the gorgeous women in our lives?

That Sexy Underwear? Err,.. No. It's never worked!

We never get the right perfume!

Kitchen stuff? .... disaster!

Funny 'Soap on a Rope'? Funny as a lead balloon!

Come on, let's have some suggestions,.....

Their is an advert running on t.v in UK at the moment.

A man runs into a petrol station and buys everything in sight, the next day, his wife opens her present and has received windscreen wipers, his dad's sat there with a wheel on his knee and the son has an air freshener.Lol

Come on, let's have some suggestions,.....

Well seeing as you're asking...

Something indulgent for me please - a voucher for a massage, reflexology, pedicure, etc. (Preferably by a qualified therapist and no I don't mind if it's a male).

A small amount of really nice chocolates (not too many because I'll blame you for making me fat(ter)).

A book by my favourite author (nothing on cooking, cleaning or dieting, thanks)

Please don't get me any clothes or jewellery unless I have specifically pointed them out when you were paying attention(you know you have crap taste)

Please don't get me anything that you really want for yourself like car accessories, chess set, any books on sport or a minature tool kit.

Is that any help? Thought it might be more useful to get a woman's view on things.

Hey girls,.. is romance dead?

My daughter is getting married next year.

A couple of months ago my son-in-law to be, took her for a supposedly long weekends shopping in New York. Booked a lovely Boutique Hotel.

Took her for a meal at Gordon Ramsays NY, then back to the hotel where he had booked privately their lovely roof top garden, where he proposed with a large Diamond, for her to choose a setting. He also arranged a string quartet.

How good was that!

Not off topic if you buy them a Steely Dan!

Steely Dan took the name from a nickname for a type of dildo from the book Naked Lunch by William S. Burroughs...

I think he also coined the phrase Heavy Metal but the ladies probably don't want that....

Air Guitars Anthems? ... nope!

What about... "Now That's What I Call Mosque No 57" as can be heard pumping out of many a suped-up wreck in Girne... ;¬)

Gaudete, gaudete Christos est natus

Ex Maria virginae, gaudete.

I used to sing this in the School's Chapel...

Perfume? Well, over the years I've probably bought a life time's supply, so I don't think she's looking forward to more....

Girls beware!

We're cheating on you again!

The other day on BBC1 they had an item about 'Crap-Wrap.co.uk', who wrap us chaps presents badly, to make them look like genuinely badly wrapped pressies from the man you love.

Let's face it, you girls know when your pressies have been professionally wrapped in-store, ... now you wont know if it's personal or not!

Think if you make the effort, do a bit of investigating, i.e. sizes, preferences etc, you at least stand a chance of success as a surprise is always best and for me has been the catalyst of a romantic christmas many times.

Pilgrim - I think I read on here at some time, you have been married more than once (haven't most of us?) but possibly you knowing the varying sizes of "YOUR" women may have been a contributory factor? LOL

Innocent party only ever one woman whilst married or in partnership, slightly more other times, otherwise no chance of finding future bliss.

Something that looks like you have gone out of your way to arrange, or organise, that will make your lady feel special. Try and think out of the box, something that you wouldn't usually do and that she wouldn't expect. Spontaneous, loving and considered acts, IMO, are more valuable than the latest handbag etc etc.

If you can't do something because its xmas day and you are going out, or are with friends, let her open a box with a hint of the surprise or a note to be available on ......... at xxx time.

Ask her best friend, or even arrange something with her on the surprise.

With fear of forthcoming comments, think more of what she would enjoy, more than what you think she wants i.e. 'a present.' If that makes sense!

By the way, if she/both of you is/are going out somewhere, make sure there isn't a pile of ironing or washing-up to come home to. In fact, it would be a really good idea to get all chores for the next few days done (yourself or get someone in) so she doesn't have to.

If you really want to go for it, a nice bouquet of flowers waiting for her when she gets back (not at the start of the day) would finish things off nicely.

If all this sounds a bit birthdayish, it doesn't matter, this type of treat is good on any occasion.

Chessman, you old romantic you!

You could always put on a 'Borat' Lime Green Mankini and leap out of the wardrobe shouting Merry Christmas!

But make sure there are no cameras, friends or family around!

Rob.

I am just trying to imagine me in one of those! My God what a sight that would be and not a pretty one! I won't be supporting 'Borat' with that one, even if he is Welsh!

Being omnipotent is that the same as impotent for a single man?

Is he omniscient?

Omnicompetence is the answer for us chaps to gain Brownie points at Christmas!

For maximum points, offer to cook the whole Christmas meal as well as clear up afterwards.

It's just a logistical exercise, any of you in management will know there are lots of shortcuts.

Leave your loved one in a hot bath with a bottle of chilled Champagne, surrounded by candles, while you 'slave' in the kitchen.

100 automatic brownie points!

If any of you want, I can give full details of the shortcuts!

Rob

Rob, just the shortcut into and out of the bathroom while you're busy in the kitchen will do!!!

Merry Christmas
