Just to let you all know Patch is finally on her way to the UK. She left TRNC this morning with her 14 doggy friends and 3 couriers. It has been a long time coming but " happy forever days " are not too far away for them all. Bon Voyage to them.

You can follow Patch's (and her friends) journey to UK by going to animalcouriers.com and watching their Travel Blog. They put regular updates and photos on there - the latest photos were taken a short while ago on board the ferry as it was leaving TRNC.

Excellent news! Well done to KAR for all the hard work and effort in helping Patch start his journey to his forever home in the UK. I'm sure his UK family can't wait to finally have him with them after all the drama! Well done to them too for giving Patch a second chance.

@ msg 1, the2ofus: (...) She left TRNC this morning with her 14 doggy friends (...) ▶ Hmm. Does that mean that fifteen dogs in the UK will not be 'rescued' and have to spend the rest of their short* lives in the (OVERCROWDED) UK kennels - because idiots exported fifteen dogs from the TRNC? * Inevitable: "euthanasia", "put to sleep" or in plain language: "killed".

Hans You complain about 'Brits' returning to the UK and putting their dogs on the streets and now you complain when people take their dogs with them. Make up your mind !! As AJ states, what would you do with your dogs if you left the TRNC ? My 2 dogs will definately be returning to the Uk with us when we leave.

@ msg 11, AJ: (...) So what would you with your beloved dogs Hans if you had to move back to Holland? (...) ▶ We discussed that possibility, AJ. The dogs will come with us to Holland. Unless he/she is too old to travel and live over there. Then, with a bleeding heart, it's good bye. P.S. Are the fifteen dogs re: msg 1 all born in the UK and going back or are they 'found' or 'met' in TRNC? P.P.S. Can you please reply to my question in msg 9 also? Thank you.

Hans I am just trying to understand what your question was. Lilli has had her dog in the TRNC for a long time and before moving back to the UK she made arrangements for her dog to be looked after prior to getting travelling arrangements for the dog sorted out. Others are returning dogs that they brought over from the UK and others are dogs that have been taken in and have been part of their life in the TRNC. Reading between the lines it appears as though you are advocating euthanasia for an animal that has been part of a family in the TRNC for a long time and then the family going through the whole process again in the UK to find a dog that will be acceptable to that family. Please explain what you mean with regard to your P.P.S.

Hans all you questions can be answered here http://animalcouriers.wordpress.com/ Just keep scrolling down, there are indivdual stories and histories of each of the dogs travelling on this first trip to the UK. If you just want the animal name and the owner name try here http://animalcouriers.wordpress.com/2012/02/12/fifteen-dogs-from-north-cyprus/ My understsanding is that 14 of the 15 dogs on this trip were 'formerly' street dogs in the TRNC who all now have homes in the UK. Will this solve the stray dog problem in the TRNC ? No it will not. Will it massively improve the life of the 14 dogs concerned, yes it undoubtedly will. That is was KAR does, seeks to improve the life for as many animals as it can. Can it do it for all animals ? No. Does this mean doing it for some or a few is worthless ? Not in my opinion.

They will give so much love back in return. Patch, I am sure you will be very glad you returned, you are on your way to a lovely new life. Well done to all the people involved. Will be nice to see photo's of their arrival. |

At the end of the day, in my opinion, it does not matter where the dogs come from....TRNC, UK, Holland, Mars.... as long as an abandoned/stray/unloved dog gets a good home, I am all for it.

Am so delighted that all the hard work put in by the KAR team and Animal Couriers has finally resulted in 15 dogs being well on the way to being reunited with their owners/new families and 'forever homes' in the UK. Having been personally involved with getting Paddy & Max on the trip to be reunited with their owner Marion, and helping Bo's new family when they first found him I was very sad to miss the send of at Girne harbour but am following their progress on the net. Bon Voyage the first 15 and to the approx 45 dogs and cats to follow you

Hi Woodspeckie and TRNC Victim I am happy, once the weather is on their side. They have had bad weather today and had to turn back, So Im not sure of arrival date yet. I cannot begin to tell you the help I have had from Margaret Ray and KAR, they took so much pressure from me when I was not well enough to deal with it. I know having my Mojo here will help me no end. Just to let you know I havent forgotten my other two. They are being so well looked after and will be on the way soon. Mojo we took to cyprus so he had micro chip and pet passport, the other two were strays but not long and they will be here. Im glued to the blogs and just to see his face fills me with hope. Maria thank you also.Thank you for your very kind wishes they mean a lot x

sorry forgot to sat TRNC I will email you Wodispeckie cant find your email address, mine guidoandliz@yahoo.co.uk . What I wanted to tell you one of these beautiful dogs is actually going to be used for help for heros. What a way to go if only others would take animals from shelters to help causes like hospices, help for heros, the forgotten veterans etc so many causes. These souls have such therapuic qualities. I watched a programme today about problem children, turned out they were mainy autistic. Parents, Health workers etc couldnt calm them but when they got a dog, the child changed. I know that is true as my youngest grnadson is autistic, one his vists to me he insisted of clearing the fridge of all the coke bottles and lining them up on the floor. It was a nightmare. Then what happened I found yet another poor soul. What a turn around in that boy and that poor dog. My grandson would carry him behind the settee in the restaurant, hold him and speak to him. He didnt speak to us. It w

so sorry I dont speak for months then I run away with my fingers. it was so hard to put the dog on the balconly when we had to open and we got screeming etc, so in the end and thank god it was summer we put a little table and chair there for Oliver and he would spend the night with him. Everyday he would speak to me asking Gma where is Jack, then more dogs came during there time he named them Shamus, James(same name in Irish) and Paddy. Well as soon as they got back I sent them to a rescue and they have a beautiful lab. He let me name him wait for it Coco.I only wish many medicial charties army charties will think to adopt.

Hi Phil I cant At the moment have another operation next month, still undergoing treatment. I cant make any commitment to go back as much as I want to. However I want my dogs with me so much more. I will go back god willing this year as I have a lot to tie up, however how can we make a living now the way things are there. I love and miss the place more than you know. I dont go anywhere here apart from hospitals. I miss people calling in to see me but since my return I have found people so busy and I understand in this climate no one has time for you. I find that so hard after cyprus. I will go back hopefully aroun april may i will get back. However at the moment my priority is my dogs and my health. We have to get back to sort things out so yes I will return x
