I have just received an e mail from A FRIEND - saying she has been mugged at knifepoint in Madrid and needs money to pay her hotel bill. The e mail address is her correct address so I can only imagine she has been compromised and they are using her contacts to ask for money from.

She has a family and if she really needed money, she would contact them.

Some of you may be on her contact list so PLEASE BEWARE. She does post on here from time to time.

that one has been going around for a long time. I have received one from a TC friend to say she was stranded in Spain when I knew she was labouring away in Nicosia, and in any case the terminology used was not hers.

My advise is that if you are not sure, just forward it on to the person who purportedly sent it to yoou to verify it. Most probably theft and sugggest to friend she /he changes their password.

marion the individual will have lost control of the account their password will not work so they can not get in

Do not e-mail the account you are putting your own account at risk

Interesting Wanderer, becausse I have used that system - namely forwarding on to the person concerned, and they have written back to say 'thanks' and 'no it is not me'. so it seems as if ALL parties can access it. all very complicated isn't it. I think th most important thing is to recognise that it is not genuine and somehow warn the friend involved - maybe by phone if what you say is correct.

These people are amazing, if they put as much effort into a legitimate business, they would probably be extremelyt wealthy. I have warned the lady concerned through her facebook inbox.

If you delete the offending email, then go into deleted items, tick the box next to the email, then 'Mark as' click on 'phishing scam'.

britvic I love marking mine as '' Scam'' But I also had many email just last month from someone who i believe is also a member of this forum sending loads So I have left him a message in my draft emails letting him know that I know it is him

I had emails saying they were from my granddaughter..saying hi nanny you must read this and a link to 44 ! earning money etc, the other one from '' her'' saying hi Maria. No she did not send them. Also a few from a friend named Rita, saying HI LOVE ITS ME. I knew it was not their email addresses. i know who it is and have changed my password a couple of time too. I will again but doing that will not stop them sending emails ! I think they do it for a laugh or to send through something dodgy ! ! Funny though how the person I know it to be has not stopped at just that either Some folk just live sad lives is MHO.

Polly just don't open them and ''spam them'' They are DOUBLE id's on here lmao.

It's a common scam but also signals the danger of putting your e mail address on view, to others , on a forum such as this. It is not a clever thing to do as their are many "sharks" swimming in the internet waters.
