Dear forum users,

I have a dilemma. How can I heat my apartment without using electricity. There is one bed room apartment. I heard about gas systems but not sure they are allowed to be installed (2 floor).

Can anyone share their experience. Thank you.

Almaz If you have a balcony to light it on you could consider a kerosene heater, very effective with no nasty smells like the ones our nans had.

Turn your 1 bedroom into a little bedsit for the winter period.

Get a electric blanket for your bed.

It will be easier to heat 1 small bedroom and keep warm than trying to heat the apartment !

But if money is no object then grab yourself a few oil filled radiators, they work a treat !

Deniz,

How about a blanket with hot water tubes running through? Just imagine, water going through the tubes at near boiling point and no danger of electrocution or fire. I must get the patent for it

Electric blankets cost pennies/kouras a night, it probably costs more to boil a kettle for a bottle! It soon will be warming up and then we shall all be moaning about the heat....

Do not use heating appliances on water beds or risk being "poached" to death !

there are cheap electric blankets which are not reliable at all.. but there are also very reliable quality electric blankets.. especially german made ones.. with 3 different safety systems plus the quality material.. I use one like that and very happy about it.. it automatically turns off every 3 hours..
