Hi to all, we are coming out for Christmas & NewYear. This will be the first time we will actually stay in our apartment at Turtle Bay (took possesion mis July). Just a few questions if anyone can help ?



What will the weather be like & what time does it go dark.

What type of clothing will we need.

Is Christmas & New Year celebrated like we do !!

Is everything open as normal.

Most importantly can anyone recommed somewhere nice for Christmas Lunch, somewhere with a good friendly welcome & atomsphere, there will be 4 of us.



Sorry if this seems an epic, but i really would appreciate replys.

congrats on your place and i hope you enjoy your stay

firstly the weather around dec time can be pleasant you can get some really nice sunny days and some days you will get rain night time thou can get a bit cold so pack some warm clothing

cyprus only really celebrate new years, christmas being a christian celebration but since their quite a lot of people who do celebrate christmas most of the locals join in the fun and most places do put something on for xmas day and on this day all buisness are open quite strange really compared to the u.k where everywhere is closed, not sure on what places are putting on any events but im sure other posters can reconmend some places to you

also it starts to get dark around 17:00-17:30 at the moment but by end of dec around 16:30 it will start to get dark

no probs just get a couple of fire heaters if it does get cold at night at home but if you got air con you know you can switch them on to hot air

Hi Corkey,

Boxing Day last year had a wind chill factor well in the minuses with the sea coming over the harbour wall!! Since been told that it was a freak one off day. Sure hope so. Even the greeters at the brothers caff were sitting in their car shouting through one inch lowered windows!

Our friends who live in Pathos thought this was really funny till they got home and the next door neighbour said it had been snowing!!
