Having used this Company to have equipment installed we now find that we are unable to contact any person from the Company about what is happening. Mike refuses to talk to any customers and we cant get any reply for e-mails to UK agent Our system does not work any more and cant find anyone to talk to about it. Any helpfull ideas welcome - (We already know what we want to do to Mike - but its illegal!!)

I had terrible trouble with this Company a year ago when my battery back up system failed. They wanted me to waive rights to the rest of the guarantee if they repaired, and blamed others for what was demonstrably their negligence. Their so called electrician charged for work that should have been done under guarantee , refused to give a receipt, and then made matters worse by failing to reconnect a battery properly. A friend looked up the instructions for the Invertor on the internet and checked that was OK. Then emptied the batteries and refilled distilled water and acid and now working well as was a real blessing during recent electricity strike. TRy the batteries - if not that you should have address of manufacturer/main supplier in Turkey on the sale documentation - worth talking to them.? Good luck If you catch Mike, I will hold him for you.

I know mike is having problems, since the main director of the company died, the company was in her name and this stupid goverment and tax offices won't let mike operate or do any work concerning the company not even repairs . but they still want his taxes paid.

One of the guys who worked there (if you are taking about the Catalkoy parade of the wine bar) is Kim's husband and she works in the office of KAR, maybe she can help you. Think it was she who was looking after Patch.

eagles: Sorry I cant help more but I am not sure of the technicalities - had to rely on my friend.but it was definitely the batteries not the invertor. He emptied the batteries, replaced water and cleaned the contacts - so presumably it was one of those. Of course batteries do just fail (just like car batteries) and it would depend on its usage and they should be serviced but mine werent. Someone who deals with heavy duty batteries - a garage or builder for instance - should be able to help. Of course if you have only had them for three years you should have two years of guarantee left - I cant help re Power your Life . I deplore what they have done but was not personally in a position to cope with the stress of taking them to Court. (which of course is how people get away with things!) Also check your purchase docs - I found the manufacturer's guarantee for the batteries among mine - and was considering approaching them direct when my friends came to the rescue.

These batteries have maxs 3yrs why do you both with this if they are not in constant use this will lower the life of each battery I dont think this is a way forward any were as you have to depend on the company you deal with and even in england just like all works carried out with added bonuses they have made mistakes as dropses from councils and such make a nice little lucatrive buseness for all I think in the Thacher days they knock it on the head and got out the Labouritse that were taking the dosh also some of the crap uniouns were we had to blow our hooters when we went past their fires ,think a finger would have been more appropreote You have a hot and cold AC use that it is more eficieint than anything else as it is there Gass heaters will dampen your unit and make it weter

I just remembered that there have been previous discussions on this board. I dontknow how to post a link but if you put "heavyduty batteries" in the search box and click on "back up systems for power cuts" you may find some useful info and contacts.

since years we recognize these problems -> and advise people not to buy back up systems with car or lorry batts. they simply are not designed for back up purposes. unfortunately in cyprus. companys it seems like the common way: some companies come - install cheap cheap - and just before warranty expires, they are gone or cant operate any more, are back in turkey, uk, germanany, or what ever.. ... My advice to all: before buying something - get a basic knowledge about what you are buying. use the internet, get some personal info, try to see if the seller is honest and has knowledge of what he is telling you, and then make sure to buy some sustainable and long lasting stuff. Its not only good for the system to work in harmony but also on the longer run good for your pocket. Regards, henrik

Henrik: Your advice is sound but it doesnt exactly help gates in this situation. I dont think there was anything instrinsically wrong with the components (the batteries were not car or lorry, I used them as an example of the basic nature of a battery). Problems have arisen because of faulty installlation or maintenance and advice to the purchaser as to usage and failure to explain the limitations of the system - and failure to rectify problems and honour guarantees. And, sadly, I think most people have now got the messsage - not to trust someone just because they are British!
