Just bought a gas bottle from Blue Dream, Esentepe and was charged 36.50TL. I'm sure i read somewhere that they had gone down to 35.50. Can anyone confirm please.

If it has gone down then Blue Dream are overcharging, if not my apologies.

I paid 35.50 a few days ago (not a Blue Dream) so I reckon he has it wrong.

Apparently this is not the first time it has happened at this store. I passed the shop I usually use to refill thinking I should support my 'local' store more.......maybe not again if this is how he conducts his business.

It's not quite like the pumps at a petrol station though is it? If he paid the extra for the gas he's got to pass it on until the cheaper ones come in surely... I can't see how the price adjustment mechanism would work automatically... do you? Please explain if you know how it would...

On the other hand Groucho, when the prices went up , shops charge the new amount immediately irrespective of if they paid the new prices for the stock in hand. Swings and roundabouts comes to mind..

Just 1 TL plus people are allowed to charge what they desire, buying from them is your choice...

Rowlo & the cat.

Nothing to do with it being 1tl, it's just the principle of the matter. So when you were in the UK you went to the dearest petrol station to fill your car up did you????.....Yeah of course...

Shops are NOT allowed to charge what they desire in this instance.

It is a government SET_PRICE as with the GOVERMENT BREAD.

I paid 36 TL at KPet opposite Colony yesterday.

But they are sticking the knife in, inch by inch, at every opportunity! 3 years ago the price was 22 TL. Let me see; that is 14 TL in 3 years. Just under 5 tl a year! That is around 20% rise every year. I think everyone should make a big noise everytime another 1 TL is added on top of the gas. Next year this time you will probably paying 41-42 TL.

With the price of electric going up astronomically, the cheaper alternative "gas" will soon be not an alternative

This is a hoary chestnut. It is long held law that a business is entitled to charge new higher prices from the moment they come into effect regardless that existing stock may have cost the lower price. This is because a rise in prices causes a business to expend more monies for the same amount of stock and it is a dormant extra expense until sold. That said some shops put up their prices before any announcement was promulgated and were thus charging 38.5 TL until government decided to lower the proposed increase. That was naughty. What about electricity prices. I understand that the government has written off 70% of municipality debt and allowed 3 years for the remaing debt to be paid. Presumably domestic users will have to pick up the tab for the losses. I am bracing myself for another 30% increase in prices !

I know you are teacher so perhaps you can explain the logic in "With the price of electric going up astronomically, the cheaper alternative "gas" will soon be not an alternative"

I am assuming that the more electric goes up the cheaper the alternative will seem - so?

paddywack,

How can you compare price differences between 2 different countries without taking cost of living, basic wage etc. into consideration?

basic wage in RoI €8-9...........around 20tl per hour

rough income support for a family of 5..............€500 per week, not to forget to mention monthly child support.

add to that %70-80 rent paid by the local government.

blimey, perhaps I made a mistake by coming back.

..........on a second thought..............no,better off here, less con artists here.

Why do people find the need to come onto an Open Forum damming a shop over one item intead of making a general enquiry on the Forum regarding the price. I wonder how much extra it would have cost in petrol to visit another supermarket with it 1 tl less? Surely you just make a note, or even have a word with the manager and then decicde whether to shop elsewhere or return.
