Eliz,

Welcome to C44. As long as you rent and only decide to buy if the title deeds are ready for transfer you will enjoy your stay. good luck.

ismet The title deed might take years and years to get even after paying up ! Deeds on the table, money on the table. That's the new way of looking at things now

Eliz59 a big welcome to the forum. Rent and do not buy We rent but our poor landlord has had dealings with a very dodgy builder. and for some its not looking too good.

I hope you settle well here in North Cyprus and make new friends soon. Friends are very important.and we leave good friends back home :(

If you do not treat living here as one big holiday you will be fine. Good luck and all best wishes.

Spider,

It is possible to find property with the title deeds ready for transfer. I am aware of the requirement for "Permission to Purchase" but once the Sale Agreement is registered it will provide some protection and of course the property will be ready to live in.

I also know that some have sold properties saying the deeds are ready to be picked up and transferred into the new owners names too. But who know's how safe all this ''knowing is ? For some it has turned sour. :(

and for some the builders have done a runner to Turkey too. :(

Spider,

Its so easy, you ask to see the title deeds and have it checked if not sure.

I have sucessfully housed 12 teachers for ESK last year and also in 2010. Quality accommodation, well managed and if working for ESK close to your new friends.

Plus a few very well informed ones who have a conscience and would not like to see even more property victims. Does it matter if there are negative posters as long as what they are speaking the truth?

Rent and you will then be guaranteed less stress if you don't like your new life. Not to mention the financial loss if you buy and then need to sell. Make the move and enjoy your time but rent. Make the decision about buying when you know the area and know where you would like to live. Prices are really falling so sit tight and wait for new laws to be introduced that will hopefully safeguard property purchase because at the moment its a gamble................some win and some lose. Unfortunately with the increase in builders going bankrupt the number of unfinished properties and homes with memorandums attached is increasing.

Don't risk throwing your money away it's just not worth the gamble.

Enjoy the TRNC.

Eliz59.....Good Luck..I'm sure you will enjoy Cyprus. Don't be put off by some of the the unpleasant people posting on this forum. They can barely speak English let alone write it. My advice is mix with the Cypriots and learn some Turkish.

Welcome Eliz59. do not be put off by the cretins who criticise every typo, they criticise but cannot create. I hope that you enjoy the TRNC and are not put off by the morons who start to criticise a new member in the first 3 postings

Bradus (mess 20)

I am feeling that maybe my conscience is clear! I, and I know you have tried so hard to get the truth out there! (you as always more informative than me) (I'm a bitter & twisted old cow)!

So many don't want to listen, perhaps they need to learn the hard way?

Why should we help them to understand?

Woodspeckie (mess 24)

Is Eliz59 yet another windup? more than likely! there are so many on this board now!

begonia (mess 22)

I think I can speak English reasonably well There are many Turkish & Turkish Cypriots walking the TRNC you wouldn't want to mix with! if you are honest?

Smity (mess 19)

There is a reason why I am negative! until you "as pollymarples" would say "walk a mile in my shoes" don't judge without knowing why! "just a few" there are more of "us" than you think!

TRNC victim you are a decent human being who has been very wronged by the property market, you have a RIGHT to your opinion and to post here.

If I had a pound for everyone who told me, no it won't happen to me and it subsequently did, I would be rich. However, I will still keep trying to help the newbies not to fall into the trap we did.

Rent, do not buy. bradus posts a lot of sense. Remember, complaining could earn you a writ for libel, even if you have much to complain about.

Does telling the truth make one unpleasant, I can live with being thought unpleasant.

Have to agree with TRNCvictim

The information about the stealing and corruption around property is all out on the world wide web as well as here, so I have come to the conclusion that anyone who posts asking stuff like is it safe to buy in NC are just people who have made up there mind anyway to buy and just want reassurance from the 1 in 10 on here who will tell them its fine.

Note how people who initially ask for advice soon slag off those who dont answer in a positive way.

There is of course the posts from people with vested interests in the property market and those trying to sell up without losing to much ,pretending to be newbies.with posts like 'I am moving to NC and have heard that property is a great bargain and that the purchasing side is very simple.Could others who have made the move please tell all the positive, fantastic things that happened to them''

So agree ,pointless giving advice. They know it already, and have chosen to ignore.
