Although I have been lucky, PTP/ Kochan etc with each property, at the time of purchase the Interest rate was 23% !!!!, My long term goal now?, sell the remaining one, bank the lot and rent.

Definitely would have rented. Stress levels OK now but were shocking and I do believe it is very unhealthy to have so much adrenaline rushing through your body even at night. Only grateful we have survived it reasonably intact.

No definitely not. I would use my builder again but only if he built me something outside the TRNC.

Wouldn't touch the bloody place with a barge pole :-( Bradus (mess 7) I would definately NOT use my builder again! even if he was building in heaven nor would I use certain tradesmen! It's not good for anyone's health! Anyone with any sense in 2012 would rent, and walk away (after paying your rent up to date of course)!

I have read the above posts, I 'm sorry many of you feel that way, but the UK is not the place it was 5 years ago, times change and so do governments and people. It seems to be a 50 /50 vote when we talk to our friends The best way is to go with the tide and embrace the culture, after all we are the aliens Personally can't wait to leave this place and move to the TRNC

Thank goodness we rent, we promised my daughters we would not buy although once or twice we were tempted. Happy that we continued to rent because if and when we can back-pack off again anywhere we wish, any time we wish to. Thats a nice feeling to have. More so when you read and hear of all the problems. I do not feel anyone is safe that has a builder saying I have your deeds just give me £5,000.00 more and its yours, then when you say ok he asks of another £2,000.00. http://northcyprusfreepress.com/2012/02/19/north-cyprus-property-victims-are-you-considering-moving-to-north-cyprus-to-retire/ Spider,X

I dont regret buying - but then I bought in the 90s, bought an old house and found a good builder to renovate and have been here long enough for the saving on rent to significantly reduce any potential loss on the property. Whether I would have committed myself to life in the TRNC if I had known how much it would have been changed for the worse by the post Anan immigration is another matter - but at least I have the comfort of having experienced it as it used to be.
