according to the TV programme 'Fat Doctor' this lady would qualify for a free operation on the National Health (costing somewhere in the region of £12,000) for a stomach band, and then when she has lost weight to have a tummy tuck on the national health to boost her psychologically. that might be a better investment than encouraging her in her current life style. Of course, getting the free op depends on what she has tried to lose weight and accept responsibility for her own life. I wonder who is counselling her to take a better path and who is counselling for her to take everything from society who may not wacnt to support this lady through the local community fund known as taxation.

But it is tough to be morbidly obese - self image goes down th epan, But that is no reason to expect to grab handouts and go to pop concerts! But there but for the grace of God go I. What might I do??

A friend's sister was morbidly obese (37st) and eventually managed to get gastric band surgery on the NHS. She lost 20st but was obviously left with all the loose skin. The NHS then refused to do skin removal surgery unless she kept the weight off for a period of years (I think it was 3). She ended up coming here for a tummy tuck as she felt she may as well have stayed fat and this was causing severe depression.

Hope the lady is now happy. At least by having the tummy tuck here she was in a nice climate with a nice price. Hope she has recovered from her depression . Hopefully she has gained new confidence and is now happy. Or is she intending to lose even more weight. Maybe there is a good reason to wait for the tummy tuck as she could have had more skin to be removed. i wonder if this lady was one of those featured in 'Fat Doctor?

Last time I walked down the local high street in the UK one of the most noteable things was the number of fat people who clearly care little for their own health or appearance. Worryingly, many of them were the 'fat young mums' that seem to frequent most towns, and the people on the electric scooters who are determined to never walk far enough to burn of a single clorie ever again.

Sadly, people with serious [underactive] thyroid problems suffer discrimination when they are put in similar brackets, but cannot do much about the problem in many cases.
