Are these always police reg numbers? The reason I ask is I've just had 2 Turkish men come over to me and ask if my pick up is mine. When I said yes, they said "OK" and just left. They are in a white landrover with RHA plates. I just wondered why and who they are.

They are central gov plates also used by telekom and water board etc.

Yes they are government officials. Just found out that because we have wood in the back of the pick up, we need a licence to transport it or anything else! Thats what its all about.

robbie, did they say if this was a new rule?

we often load ours with a range of different things from building materials to sheep.

we have new had this problem.

where were you when this happened?

No this isnt a new rule apparently, but after going to the Forestry Dept, they confirmed it only applies to transporting wood. I was in Catalkoy at the time and had to go into the Forestry dept in Girne to apply for permission to drive home. Was let off with a caution this time, but told I must learn the laws in NC!!

i will remember that if we need to transport wood,lol.

i wonder if this applys to only logs type wood or if i need a permit for sawn/ cut wood, for the building purposes?? lol.
