Sevki is the owner of the Tumba Restaurant in Esentepe.

I understand that 5 drunks set about him and two of his customers and Sevki suffered a broken nose.

We use this restaurant quite often and in 4 years there has never been any issues.

Best wishes to Sevki and we hope he makes a full recovery.

As for the drunks.....my thoughts are not printable.

well i would guess that some people are smart enough to not want to air there there problems or mishaps on a public forum were a load of bored gossiping people make comments on things they have no reason to comment on.

If Sevki is the owner of Tumba, which I have often visited, then isn't he the son of the mayor of

Esentepe? If so, I have met him, and very surprised at this horrible news as have never seen

anything remotely like that there. I think it is plenty reason to comment when this happens to

people and places that you know and frequent.

This of interest to a lot of local people as Sevki is a very well respected member of the Community.

I do not perceive this as being gossip because this happened as described by other members and is factual.

The police were called and the drunks were taken away.

Not certain what happened after the arrest.

All this posting does for me is to make me avoid any bar that attracts those sort of customers. So the OP has had a negative effect as far as I am concerned.

This was 5 scumbags who came into the restaurant, didn't even buy a drink there, as they had obviously had enough elsewhere. They decided they would beat up a pensioner and his wfe for no reason. When the owner asked them to leave they set about attacking him.

There has never before been any trouble in this restaurant and it should not put off people using it.

Had the locals, who quickly arrived been allowed to deal with it, the scumbags would have been dealt with according to local justice. But the police were left to deal with it.

I live in Esentepe and it is a shame that these kind of people come to a quiet peaceful village. Hope they get what they deserve. TUMBA is a quiet bar and Sevki is a real nice man. Hope he doesn't class all English like this minority scum

This minority scum were in fact Irish, and Sevki is aware of that and I'm sure would never paint all us Brits with the same brush.

Teatime- well said and The Tumba has always been a trouble free bar so people should never be afraid to have a drink there.

As for Cyprusairsoft comments perhaps you can give me a valid reason for 5 men assaulting a woman and her husband while they were having a quiet drink in a local bar.Hitting a woman in any civilised country is not acceptable.

I personally know the people concerned and they are really nice people who would not look for trouble and other people who were there at the time have confirmed this to be the case.

These morons should hang there head in shame.

Been there a few times, nice quiet friendly bar, good food and regular live football and Rugby. Never seen any hint of this type of behaviour. Moreover, as it is up in Esentepe village, not somewhere any passing larger louts, Irish or otherwise, would necessarily know was there.

As to msg 20, as I am not sure what world you live in, I will say no more than incredible!!!

Msg 15 - Sevki is the son of the former Muhktar not the Mayor. Sevki is a great guy and his wife is also lovely. This is a family run restaurant that has a good reputation and the fact that he (allegedly) stood up for one of his customers is proof that this is a reputable restaurant.

Message 19 Tumba Bar does not "attract these kind of customers.." and have always known it to be

a quiet, friendly bar, which I and many of my friends frequent. The people are decent and it is so

unfair to make this kind of assumption. Scumbags such as these in question don't care where they

barge in or what damage they do to people, or places.

Please dont let this incident put anyone off using Tumba Bar. Its a great little bar that is frequented by many locals and expats. This kind of thing does not go on in the village, these men had been drinking elsewhere all day and turned up it seems intent on making trouble for whoever was there that night.

Get well soon Sevki and the other people that were attacked that night.

The msgs here where apparent 'scorn' is being thrown/shown at Tumbas and the attack on Sevki just prove the fact that many such posters on C44 have not a clue what they are talking about. The management/staff are friendly, approachable and fully support expats and locals alike and whilst I only go there occasionally, there has never been a sniff of trouble until this incident. I can only wonder where the infamous 5 came from/live. Hopefully, their actions (if proven) will result in their removal from the TRNC, after having paid for their crime. Sevki - I hope the op is a huge success and wish you a full and speedy recovery.

dav pat you insult with your reply- it is not a question of turning a blind eye or condoning such behaviour but one of respecting the locals and how they would not like to be the subject of hearsay and other gossip on a public forum.

This is not gossip or hearsay.

The Tumba is our local and Sevki has given most of his regulars the details of this awful assult.

His resturant is now closed and has been for two days while he recovers from his injuries which includes a broken nose.

This was not a slap it we a beating.

If you still believe this to be gossip why not call into The Tumba and see for yourself. You can't mistake Sevki he's the one with the broken nose and two black eyes.

We are only out in Esentepe twice a year but always frequent The Tumba. Sevki is a lovely man and we hope he is ok, and that this horrid incident does not put him off running his lovely bar and restaurant.

All the best Sevki - we will see you in May.

Message 31 Sevki has posted a photo. of himself in hospital bed with bandaged nose, and black eyes

on Facebook - so I hardly think he is bothered about people talking about this. I hope that the perpetrators

will be caught, and dealt with, as I'm sure he does.

Msg 38

They were caught and dealt with by the Police. If truly Irish as has been suggested, they are probably drinking in ROC as we speak, the Police having taken a statement and released them.

This is terrible and I do hope poor Sevki feels better very soon. What a shock and fright to see all this by all the others who witnessed this.

I send my best wishes to you all.

I have never been to this bar as its too far away but I am sure all your regular's will offer you all the support you will need.
