I'd like to thank the board of KITREB (Cyprus Turkish Tourist Guides Association) for the kind invitation to attend the celebration of World Guides Day in the Bedesten, Lefkoşa, TRNC. It was a very pleasant evening again!

KITREB's cocktail party was again a fine opportunity to admire one of the best restorations I've seen in Northern Cyprus: the historic Church of St Nicholas, known as the "Bedesten" ("Covered bazaar; also spelled as Bedestan, Bezestan). Beautiful again - inside and outside!

▶ It's marvellously done - inside and outside! The whole project* amounted to circa € 2 million (study, supervision, restoration and re-use works), wholly funded by the European Union. EVKAF has also contributed financially to the restoration project.

* United Nations Development Programme "Partnership for the Future", funded by the EU.

If you are interested in history and medieval architecture you should not miss the 'new' Bedesten!

I hadn't realised we had many children on this Forum - I think its about time we made it for sensible adults.

DutchCrusadedr started a sensible topic and I am surprised moderators didn't delete the comments made by children and even stop them from posting in the future.
