Having used the Metehan crossing since 2003 today was the FIRST time we were asked to produce our UK driving licences in order to get the Road Tax Certificate from the Greek police. As we only had our TRNC driving licences with us we could not get the certificate and consequently car insurance for 'the other side'. So had to do a u turn and come back.

Advise would be be to carry UK licence aswell as TRNC licence.

Crofter,

This has been the case since early this year.

Was a front page story a couple of times recently in Cyprus Today where a couple who have lived here for a number of years and UK licence had lapsed, only possessing a TRNC licence. They ended up getting a new EU licence via Eire.

Obviously if you do not live here you will not know about this so unfortunate.

We crossed over and back today with shopping and no-one looked at us twice. No problems.
