Strange that the original venue should be changed at the last minute, I wonder why.

Where are the fireworks going to be this year? Is it worth spending New Year's Eve down at the harbour?

It's always a good atmosphere Maddie. Get yourselves into one of the bars or restaurants on the square or the harbour and enjoy the (free) show.

Are they still doing the fireworks off the roof of the Belediye offices? Great atmosphere in any one of the bars restaurants by the square.

I remember 2 yrs ago they put on a great show, even though the rockets were exploding a little too close to the ground.

The harbour was dead as soon as the fireworks were over.

maybe other places has things going on this year.

How is the weather? as it cooled off yet?

Twin management presents - The Big bash!

I think a bit pricey even though its all you can drink.

Food doesnt sound that fantastic for the "Milpas"

A brownie for dessert? hmmm.

Unless the price is for per couple. I guess its the entertainment youre basically paying for.

Shop around, see what else is out there.

Six courses of food, all local drinks included and 4 different acts for @£55 per head, that is very good value. If you want to sit in your drinking dens in Lapta listening to downloded CD's then that is your choice, but dont knock people for trying to put on a good show for people. For the record, I have no connection with either the Malpas or any of the acts.

Rip...there are some phone number in the first posting, so you can book by calling them. I'm going so maybe I'll see you there.

As for the comments about the cost I know of other places on New Years Eve that are charging around 35 - 40 pound sterling for just a meal and a dj, no drinks, and I'm not talking hotels here just local bar/restaurants so nothing special. If you add the cost of the drinks to the 40 quid then I know where I'd rather spend my money. Bottom line, it's new year's eve and people should expect to pay for something decent if that's what they are looking for. Bowman hit the nail on the head. And I have no connection either!

It will be a fantastic night, mainly because you wingers will not be there. £55 is very good value, these entertainers have to earn a living, most other venues are similar price without the good line up. Jonnie and Anna are worth their weight in gold, if you do not like their style of entertaining, do not put people off who will enjoy the evening. As Jonnie says, so far the takers of which there are many, are all friendly, join in and love to have fun.

If the food is anything like what they served at the Property awards "do" then I would definitely stay at home. We only got 3 out of the 5 courses on offer and not even a cup of coffee at the end!!! Total waste of money ('cept for the fab jazz singer), cold food ,slow service - truly dreadful!!!

Why don't you try making up your own minds instead of following the crowds ?

You sound like a flock of sheep ! Do you ever break away and speak to the Cypriots ? Do you ever take a risk ?

hi lottie i do not think that the cypriots go to these events anyway sad maybe we could get a mix of cultures but its not the case all the artists are excellent and back in the uk we never got away with anything less than at least 500 pounds with the champange, double if i needed a new dress, i only wish that the artists, the venues could make it happen. you know in the uk you pay top dolar because the staff have to be paid triple amount to work. please guys if you have nothing beter to do support these entertainers, you would if a new kid was on the block. gripe over happy xmas one and all xxxxxxxxxxx

He

Not knocking the entertainers!!, but have yet to experience good food or service at the Malpas. Right entertainers -wrong Venue.

So definitely not worth £55

re mess 30 - Spot on David...

Have seen all of the entertainers and they are spot on......

But you can usually see them for 10ytl at somewhere like the Altinkaya, so how does that jump to £55 ? - Sounds like the Malpass charging top dollar for the grub and as i said earlier, last X Mas at the Malpass was terrible...

Message 21, went to the Dome last New Year, only 2 tables of brits there, all TS's, also several locals will be at the Malpas. As for Altankya charging 10ytl, that is for one act, or maybe Anna and Jonnie together, another 2 involved, plus local drinks all night and some of the Brits can drink for England, plus food and guaranteed electric, not like saturdays original venue!!!!!

I think maybe it is just the 'entertainment ie Anna and Johnnie' that is cancelled as I heard they had Turkish/Cypriot entertainers. I am not saying this is gospel but anyone who has booked maybe best to check.

Shadders, enjoy the show, thats what your paying for.

ps, one of the courses is not really a course, the sorbet is like a ice mouthwash. ( a shishy way of adding an extra course).

The brownie for dessert, wow, we have those in coffee shops, like a cookie. Nothing elegant about a brownie unless you add the right "herbs".

pps. Not trying to be negative here, just don't want you to build your hopes up for a huge feast.

ppps. I would love to hear about peoples experience after the fact. Please post what you think of the evening , if it compares to the their ad.

The secret is, you make your own fun , no matter what. have a great Xmas.

being good friends with all the entertainers, and knowing them very well, i know that jonnie hawkins has put a great deal of effort into bringing these singers to all of us brits, this new years eve, what ever the problem with the savoy is not for me to coment on, its cost him a lot of money for all of the events he's put on this year and we should all supprort him for doing so, if you think that the cost is too high, then don't go, if you had a crap xmas at the malpas last year then complain to the management, like i did, if you don't like the singers then go somewhere else, i know it's going to be a great night, and i will be going even though i've seen and heard them all perform most weeks this year, good luck you guys and enjoy the night, we'll be all seeing in the new year together.

Sorry, Nige, dont mean to rain on your parade, just listened and watched the video's, the sound was not good.

Was she singing over a Dean Martin soundtrack in Winter wonderland I am sure I could hear him singing.

Looks like people had fun, thats whats important.

I noticed a posting went to the Bermuda triangle, I will repost;

I had said, something like thiS:

Nige, looked like everyone was having fun, Anna has a good voice , I could almost hear Dean Martin voice in the background on Winter Wonderland.

Was she singing over tapes?

The sound of the speaker didnt come over too well on the video.

But everyone had fun on the 12 days of Xmas..

MODERATORS, tell me if youre going to delete a posting or if you would like me to re-write it, dont just chuck it out..*&%&*@#

£55 quid per person?????? the better half and me are off to the local and for ONLY £25 per head including free drink, the landlord puts on a Massive buffet enough for 500 but he limits the ticket sales to 150, we all have a great time, loads to eat, at 12 everyone goes out for the fireworks, which last year where excellent then its back in to continue the fun and all for £25 quid

Nick- you get what you pay for generally and having stayed at he Malpas for a few nights we are going again tonight. It is good value.

Most people find their own level for a big occasion so we presume you will be seeing the New Year in at the chippy.

If you are interested in living cheaply then try Cambodia they may even have a forum by now to be negative on!
