The very hot Topic of the last few weeks. Best I do not mention names , One gentleman in the know and with information. Did go to the Police as so many of you suggested. But to the best of my knowledge they are not interested unless a member of the organistaion concerned or a commitee member make a complaint.

Are you saying this is end of this, surely not as no one should make any money out of fundraising for a charity.

The figures I have now been given are 120,000 tl raised by Festival 11 80,000 tl 'expenses' 20,000 tl receipts 60,000 tl 'missing' or in my words stolen from handicapped men women and children.

no the agreement was 7000 tl paid and 11 more installments of 1 000 tl. 18 000 tl in total. That is why Tony E. reluctance to publish Festival 11 accounts is even more astonishing. In fact he now says he doesn't have them !

Not wanting to be melodramatic, but this IS TRNC. Could the committee have been threatened? Does somebody who got away with 35,000 pounds have 'friends at court'? Otherwise I just cannot see why they would agree to this 'deal'.

Whatever the scenario, over 5 months after the event for Festival 11 to be allowed to get away with not publishing their accounts is not right. They set themselves up as an accountable committee. Now the project manager Tony E refuses to publish the accounts . Why ?

What we are talking about is money given by the public on the understanding that CH would receive it minus legitimate expenses. I hope that if someone has dipped their fingers in the charity pot that either their conscience gets them or they get their just deserts sooner rather than later.

There does not seem to be any conscience involved here. If there had been, as soon as wrongdoing was suspected by the Festival 11 the police would have been informed and an independent auditer would have been handed the accounts. Instead a campaign was launched to try to discredit and smear with letters placed in newspaper evento those who tried to investigate rather than just believe the nonsense that was being given out as misinformation. This was all a smokescreen for those accountable to hide behind. Those charged with accounting for the money we gave for handicapped people should now be just that, accountable. Publish the accounts and show where the 60 000 tl missing has gone.

What will happen to the Bohemians concert in April I wonder. I believe these two have found another charity. Why doesn't everyone just give these guys the money directly so they can put it straight into their pockets and forget the concert!!!!! ONLY JOKING OF COURSE! Twinks

Phil Bailey yes I have been informed that all three are still on the island.Tony E, Hal Compton and Richard Currie. Claire Morley has been on holiday in Mauritius. Brian Poloczek had no real role and was kept out of some accounting meetings anyway and Ziggi Watkins had minimal involvement, mainly with event security.

Hugely disappointed with the attitude of the police, anyone who makes a complaint should have it investigated ,as is normal elsewhere. I have made an official complaint to the Leonard Cheshire H.Q. in London and have been contacted by the person charged with investigating the complaint. I have given them all the information at my disposal and urge others to contact them and complain. Their email address is (info@lcdisability.org).

Forgot to add, that the people concerned and who must be brought to book for their complicity, are the same people who attempted to blacken the name of Lee and Jan (johnnyLee) and undermine the great work that they do for Ismail and his family. They are, in my opinion, beneath contempt and deserve jail time for their misdeeds.

Msg 17 I cannot believe any Legitimate Charity would want to get involved in any future dealings with certain individuals. I know some Charities had already been contacted by certain parties before all this came out and were told they would not get involved. They would be mad to even contemplate it.

Perhaps message 19 is the way forward. If lots of us contact CH in the UK then just maybe something will be done. I guess that CH here in the TRNC are not prepared to do anything about it but for the life of me I cannot see why they won't.

Part of an email sent to me. '' ***has asked me to perform on behalf of Cheshire Homes in the past and told me I would be paid with my fee being covered by " expenses". Needless to say I refused as I had a major problem with the ethics of such a proposal.’’ I have no reason to disbelieve this. It was sent to me by a musician, not Johnny Lee or any of the posters on here, and I have no reason to disbelieve this. If Festival 11 post their accounts this will be verified....or not.

Re Parkview I would like to point out that other charities must not all be tarred with the same brush. Children in Need for instance, for whom I know you volunteer, have been interviewed by me at BRT many times. On most occasions, and unasked for by me, who ever is representing them for interview has come to the studio with a set of CINF accounts showing what has been raised and where it been spent. This is normal behavior for transparent and honest accountable fundraising with nothing to hide. What Festival 11 have done is the complete opposite.

I would also point out that another thread mentions Tony E 'offer' to do an interview with me at BRT. I reiterate here that this would only EVER be possible after Festival 11publish their accounts. I would never be be allowed to promote any wrong doing at BRT and as such this information is a non negotiable must.

Part of the above link '' Knowing the characters of some of the people in North Cyprus, I have always distanced myself from all financial dealings with the Cheshire Home. The only time I have ever dealt with money is in counting the proceeds from the collection boxes with other volunteers. '' Knowing the character of some people in Cyprus .....???? OK so what were the proceeds of those collection boxes ( buckets?) Oh yes I forgot, that will be in the Festival 11 accounts that we are not allowed to see !

msg 31, Hal Cromptons remarks as printed are blatant lies, as his involvement with festival 11 fundraising shows. Sorry Hal, but if it looks like a turd, smells like a turd and has the consistency of a turd...then it probably is a turd, not a pile of roses !

Cheshire Homes, you are damaging your charity by not making these accounts available. You know they should be seen by the interested people who made donations. Why are you keeping them under cover? Don`t suppose for a minute you are going to respond to this, but please consider the charity`s future and reconsider

Festival 11 are doing untold damage to EVERY charity here in North Cyprus by allowing their project manager Tony Elkin to cover up the loss of 60 000 tl by refusing to publish the accounts or go to the police with regards to funds that should have gone straight to CH 5 months ago.

Re message 30. Even if you were not aware at the time that the 35 K was not a gift. When the old couple mentioned that they wanted it back what sort of man would let it go to court ? Wouldn't a man of honour say my mistake of course I will pay it back if it was meant as a loan. My understanding in any case was that it didn't actually go to Court but the OAPs gave up when advised there was lack of evidence.....bit like Festival 11 not publishing their accounts....do we see a common theme here ?

It should not be allowed to go away. Our posts and Topics should not be closed as long as we keep them polite and factual' Why should the ordinary man in the street who donated not be told the truth. Why should a few people be allowed to cover it up. We were promised NO FUDGE. We got ( I think the bumper size box ) double layer. You do not expect a cover up like this in our small community of mainly very decent ex pats. People have given a lot of money and not everyone can afford it. We must make sure that we do not Tar the other organisations with the same brush. They will all need our help now more than ever and one day we may need theirs. If we do allow this to go away then we are saying well thats OK every £ you give you expect only 15 % to reach the cause.

I think the actual figure is far worse than 15% because the Festival 11 smokescreen is trying to cover up the fact that there are at LEAST 11,000tl of oustanding debts that I know of, and maybe more.
