hello everyone. let the experts and expats talk. So friends typical costs for eating out and drinking on our proposed holiday. We love the Lamb, fish and snacks too. not too posh though. prefer nice atmosphere and warm friendly resturants. As North Cyprus is Not in the Euro Zone i would expect costs to be typically 25% to 30% cheaper than the Euro Cyprus. i remember a visit to Cyprus in 1971 and it was £5 per head. doubt if we can achieve that nowadays lol....

tonyjcant. £5 would be about right for a 6 year old.

I agree with £15-£20, per head as a basic average charge in moderately good eateries,

Had fabulous lunch today at Kibet Steak House. I had fillet (250g) and my husband had a New York Rib which was about 450g, it was massive so succulent and cooked perfectly. Served with salad, fried onions, potato wedges, veg and bread. Two soft drinks, two Turkish coffees. Total 77TL or £28 at today's exchange rate. For info, these two particular steaks are at the top end of the menu price-wise.

Message 8 no, sorry I meant to say that in my post. If you like steak it is well worth a visit. They also do home-made burgers, lamb, kofte and other stuff.

Kibet is in Karakum, heading East it is just past and on the same side of the road as Tango to Buddah and just before Lemar.

I agree with Rowlo however, whatever your budget is, there will be many outlets to accommodate your needs and requirements.

Why anyone would wish to chump through a succulent New York strip (rib?!) steak without the chance of a good red wine to accompany it, is beyond my comprehension!

Brinsley. Agree about the wine, the Steak was delicious but my husband didn't appreciate the no drink with it.

Brinsley, I agree with you fully and I would love to supply them however, the owner Ahmet is a very religious man who goes to Mosche 5 times a day and strict about his beliefs, Having done business with him, i found him very principled and straight as an arrow, it made a change !!

So he will not sell alcohol ever, which attracts a more Turkish and Muslim crowd, it figures I guess

Tonyjcant, there are lots of little kebab houses (unlike the Uk kibab house) and many restaurants where you can eat very cheaply, even in the season, Gulen Kebab (now with new posh seats) where I last ate for two for less than 20tl, a great wrap kebab, freshly made and full to the brim.

Enjoy your stay in TRNC
