It is always interesting to read such pieces.

I have said since 1974, and i was personally involved in the UN prior, during and after the intervention, that the Island will never be the same again, and it won't. The extremists in the RoC and the Hotelliers will never ever agree to anything balanced and fair!

Are we all kidding ourselves? Yes!

Wish I understood the English in that news report. I would also like direct quotes from Mr Downer and others, rather than read 'our sources'. The sources may be reliable, but I am afraid in view of the discussions of the past umpteen years, I (and many others) are a little mistrusting of what one reads. Particularly 'annoying' is the use of the word 'peace'. We have peace, but we do not have reconciliation and reunification - and in view of the sticking points on any agreement, it looks highly unlikely that we will ever have those two important 'r's. But...............what will we have?
