Just after sunset look out for the new moon. Almost next door to it there is Venus, the brightest object in the sky (apart from the moon of course). And just a little further around the other bright object is Jupiter, quite breathtaking.

Hi All

In fact here will be more in the sky tonight (& following nights)

From about 6:00pm - looking west - Jupiter, moon, Venus, Uranus & Mercury - in more or less a straight line running north to south

From 8:00pm - looking East - is Mars (appears slightly yellowish at the moment), followed by Saturn at about 11:00pm.

Some of these will be visible by binoculars, but a telescope will be better

Clear skies....

Closest it has been to the moon since 1992 apparently.

Download free programme STELLARIUM. It will show where every star is at your location

My friend called the moon a Cheshire cat moon, I think she is right. I also loved looking at the stars yesterday. Didn't know it was Venus, thanks for all that info, must look again tonight.

timaloy, The Sun rises in the East and sets in the West..Some African tribes believe that it is hurled into the air by Elephants..... Presumably you think it bounces up and down from the same spot..
