I was told that this practice has, apparently, been discontinued in the UK due to people getting various infections

swyflot. You are right all the shops have been closed for Health and safety reasons, apparently some were not following the hygiene rules.

Not so unless closure has happened in the last month. Had a couple of sessions bought for me for Christmas so were operating in Braintree, Essex in January 2012 when I had the pedicure.

My local shop is still open in Westgate on Sea Kent. It's like Nail bars, some are good some are bad.

I also had it over Christmas in the UK in Broadstairs, very clean and well kept fish. These fish apparently come from Turkey but I haven't seen anyone doing it over here.
