If anyone asked just one question what is it about the TRNC you are unhappy about, it has to be the postal system, I know we have posted on the forum several times about this subject, but thanks to this I have had to put up last years cards that were given to me by my granddaughters as again no post, how sad is that, its fine if you have partners and family here to give out cards, but when you have'nt you feel so cut off. in 2009 I am going to try my best to sort this out yet again.

May be next year something might be done. Have you read this weeks Cyprus Today? Two members of The House Of Lords have taken up the case. Lord Maginnis and Lord Kilclooney both have homes here in TRNC and intend to start a probe into what is happening. I know there are those with heads in the sand but these men need the support of everybody involved with sending and receiving mail to TRNC. So now is the time to get all friends and relatives to write to their MP's and tell them what is happening. In this way the attack comes from 2 directions. If you do not live in UK then you still have the right to contact the MP of your last constituency. If you can include dates of any mail posted and not received it would be better but as with most letters you do not keep a record, just the fact that numerous ones have never arrived. So come on folks use the power of that old phrase "the pen is mightier than the sword". Good idea to get friends to include info from CT.

Lille I will continue fighting this cause, but at the moment I am very upset looking at the little cards from last year. what do you tell the babies (granddaughters when they ask if you got their cards and did you enjoy what they had written, not one bloody card, but today a statement from HSBC manages to get through, with the same address I gave to my family. No mention of Cyprus, only Girne, Mersin 10 so with all the excuses they give, its still a very upsetting Christmas made even worse with my family only recently moving to thailand.

I'm SURE I responded to this already.. Make sure you use Mersin 10 Turkey if you want your UK mail delivered..simple.. Maginnis and Taylor seem to be very selective about the emails they respond to ;)

But it isn't that simple MM because we have always used Mersin 10 and no mention of Cyprus or TRNC and we still do not get certain types of post. Having said that, friends of ours have had 8 christmas cards delivered to their PO Box this week so maybe things are looking up.

We have had 4 cards delivered this year - a bonus. We always put up last years card and the years before that we collected when we went back to UK in December 2006 for a couple of weeks. I know they are all still thinking of us and send their good wishes anyway they can by email, phone etc so we don't get too sad about it. The only sad thing that we think about are about the people who are no longer with us.
