The petition and the text is now in English, please support this!!

This fuel is not for North Cyprus! It is just a depot for resale, doing us no goodother than lining a few pockets!!

And employing local people, raising revenue for the Government to enable them to do more for locals and it is their country - let them decide.

My friends, all Cypriot and Turks who live here in the Karpaz, agree with me. Their business is turism!!! ask Ismail in Büyükkonuk. It's planned to be on their doorstep and they are definitely not happy. They are deciding!!!

Regardless, it is a shame and clearly if the oil/gas production is significant then this place will need an expansion of infrastructure that will take away some of the remoteness/nature reserve attributes from this place. At the same time, if it indeed provides for local employment then it would without doubt provide a boost for the local economy.

Is it a good thing/bad thing? Alas, the whole world is arguing about this subject until there is nothing left to argue about :-(

Apparently some 15% of the land mass there is actually 'Israeli' owned and the new marina was financed via the same source. Perhaps these absent landlords may have a say as well!

the Karpaz area is supposed to be the centre of eco tourism and the government has given loans to manylocals to develop property to attract tourists to savour the true flavour of Cyprus - it's culture, traditions etc, and these tanks at the depot are to be on one of the best stretches of beach. It is doubtful it will profit the locals, most of whom have formed a group to bring pressure to stop this desecration of an area of natural beauty. They are also taking out court cases in an effort to ensure that the eco tourism continues to attract those who seek something different. There is also the quesiton of wild life in the area. The question must be #Is your depot really necessary?' Personally I can't see it is of anyu value to the countryside or people of n.Cyprus.
