Went there in April (it was as hot as August is here). We stayed at the Sharm Cliff. Bit of a walk from town as its up on the cliff above the town. Rooms were fine. Food was ok, lots of it, but a bit repetitive. Very busy place, beaches are packed. Snorkelling was amazing.

Food is poor in Sharm. Keep away from KFC and TGI Fridays in Naama Bay. Weather is great. Ave rainfall 1/2 inch per year. Property cheap and really cheap to live there. Sea and beaches amazing.

Went last January. Could sunbathe in the day but as soon as sun went in about 4 o'clock, you need trousers and a fleece on. Can swim in heated pool only or sea. We enjoyed all our food. Evening entertainment - naff to non existant. Not much to do there, but snorkelling and diving out of this world. Will be going back but only for diving. Local vodka cross between petrol and mouthwash. Could not drink it, but would suggest going all inclusive. We were about 20 mins out f Naama Bay. Hotels very nice and clean.

I got to Sharm every year and love it. TGI's in Naama Bay is great, cheap and the staff are excellent. I've stayed in the Sonesta Beach, Marriot Mountain and Iberetol and all were great. The 1st 2 are along the promonade and a nice walk of about 5 mons into Naama Bay. Hope that helps!

Rowan, If you go fully inclusive,it would be worth you checking out what you get for your money. We went fully inclusive, had to pay for water, etc, etc But apart from that,Egypt is very nice. But what i like, might not suit you. People do say food repetitive,is that really much different to food back home. With a bit of thought, you can plate up some different meals My advice would be,try it,if its not up to your expectations, its only a week or two, make the best of what you got, next year, treat yourself to North Cyprus Enjoy

Sharm is, in my view, a bit of the Blackpool on the Red Sea, However, good stagging post for access to Dahab, Taba, further up the Coast. Dahab has some excellent Hotels if you are willing to travel that litte bit further. Excellent Diving there too.

waz..Just had 2weeks in Taba Heights in the Intercontinetal Hotel on allinclusive, nocharge for water, unless you took it out of the mini-bar for someodd reason.Everything else was fine.DO NOT go B/B or half board because the price of food and drink is outrageousIE..5£ apint,25£ abottle of wine 15£ burger and chips, these are ENGLISH POUND prices not Egyptian Pounds. You could drink as much beer and wine as you liked on the A/I deal and quite nice as well from 11am till 11pm..after that you had to pay. For the golfers, a superb 18 hole course right outside the hotel entrance and for£60 you get 18holes ,buggy, and full set of clubs, just take shoes, balls and teepegs with you...

WAZ, Spot on in my opinion. First went in 1996 before all the charters started and although busy it still had some of the "old world charm". Revisited in 2004 and would never go back again.

| Rowan Ive been twice to Egypt did and a nile cruise and then stayed in Luxor the following week one of the best holidays we've ever had fully recommend. Second time we went to Sharm again had a great time weather was excellent even in Jan need a fleece at night. I strongly recommend you go all inclusive. And if you want branded drinks take them in your suitcase not hand luggage as all hand luggage is searched when you go through reception in most hotels for security reasons don't let that put you off though Sharm is well worth a visit.
