This bears out what I was saying elsewhere about the number of Israelis at the new marina at Yeni Erenkoy (Yialousa) last Autumn.

There has been an Israeli civilian and military interest in the TRNC for many years. Maybe the recently soured relations between Turkey and Israel may quieten things down for a while, but business is business.

Hi,

Remember that Britain tried to settle the European Jews in Cyprus after WW2 rather than upset the apple cart in Palestine. St David's camp is still existent just West of Nicosia Airport that was used as a holding area for Jews expelled from Palestine.

The British Government at the time did not state what they intended to do with the GC/TC population of Cyprus if the plan to make the island the Jewish homeland had come to fruition.

Maybe there are those in Israel who still feel they should have taken Cyprus instead of the fractious bit of land they ended up with???

Of course he entirely practical suggestion that they are using Cyprus to keep an eye on Syria (and Lebanon) on the qt may be a more likely explanation.

So, we could have thousands of people turn up, with high morale standards, good business practices, excellent education, many financially secure, and all wnting to work for and earn a living.

The demographics will never be the same again.

I think it's only right that "Gods Chosen People" should own a little piece of "untouched heaven"...
