It must now be obvious, to all but the casual observer, that this boards is under attack from a number of Cyprus-Forum members for no reason other than to cause this boards members concern and to put forward a political propaganda agenda outwith the aims and intentions of this board...

It there any point at which we should say, enough is enough and can/will anything be done about it...

I would have thought harbouring an intention to undermine this board would automatically bestow the status of quizzling 5th columnist in our ranks...

It is one thing to use reasoned argument to further a discussion, quite another to attempt to destroy a board for propaganda purposes, just so that you can crow on another BB about powerful your rhetoric is and how you are able to make the members of this board appear to be morons...

I touched on this yesterday, they use the same spelling mistakes, and an over-use of '@' their was 'two' new posters a day or so ago, arguing the same argument making the same spelling mistakes and using @@@@@@ all the time.

Best not to bite, and just ignore.

Just don't comment Groucho, even if they say something nasty, just pretend they're not their, they'll soon go away. What's the point in there 'fun' if we ignore them? they look like fools. They certainly won't be pasting our comment's on their board, if they are ignored.

Nige,

I was personnaly attacked on another board, I ignored it, and asked other members to do the same, even though it was me who was targeted, what happened? although he was dealt with swiftly, and not barred, he never bothered me again.

You are right Gavin. I have noticed this over the past few days - new members joining and then posting anti British and anti trnc statements. There are a few people in there element with this type of propoganda, best not to bite.

I reckon the best way to deal with these individuals is to simply Log off, that way the lunatics will be left in the asylum on there own, and i'm quiet sure that someone, somewhere will notice members leaving in there droves, and deal with the problem.

This is a business is it not?

Groucho: "I would have thought harbouring an intention to undermine this board would automatically bestow the status of quizzling 5th columnist in our ranks..."

That seems like a somewhat hysterical response. A Fifth Columnist from the WW2 definition is someone who collaborates with the enemy. From what I've seen any GCs on this board are upfront and loyal to their own cause and scornful of those who would buy, sell and occupy their homes. Seems fair enough to me.

After all, weren't you moaning about unfair moderation the other day? Freedom of speech to all.

I believe forum has been "under attack" for several weeks. Went though all that rubbish with mac whats his name and most still did not twig on to him.

Find it best to play them or ignore them totally. Problem is that unless you have been around for a while on forums, new comers will get drawn in so quickly.

Only other alternative is to delete them as soon a s they start but that is against freedom of choice etc.

Sorry no answers from me Groucho as to how to stop it.

I hear what you are saying and note that you have chosen yet again to take this thread, which is not about property, off on a tangent to spread more vitriol.

Did I say it was you? I don't think so but you seem to recognise yourself..

I notice you take great delight in pouring scorn on your fellow man...

My contention is this; if one's aim is not to make a point and engage in a reasoned discussion but to render the BB useless to its intended members then it's not just a freedom of speech issue.. and it shows bad faith. By overloading nearly every thread with the same old dig about property rights and wrongs the board has become something less.. is somehow not as useful or interesting to its members...

That you are prime mover in this respect is not missed and it is also why you are being lauded elsewhere for a good job well done, and further, I notice you basking in your 'glory'.. how very nice of you...

I agree, why shouldn't the Greek Cypriots say what they think? If I was living in a refugees house (or on their land) I should WANT to know what their feelings are!!!! Restricting and/or banning their posts will not, in the real world (not this "virtual" one) make them go away, or take away the fact you may one day lose your investment!!!

As for Unfair moderation?

I was simply at a loss to see why it was felt necessary to edit my post which was in not in contravention of rules and was pretty light-hearted... even if it was about the rules...

On the other hand...

"Any member who is intentionally unpleasant or disruptive may be banned without warning."

I would have thought the current increased trend towards board sabotage was just this....

Theresa,

I don't think pretending to be a TC in one post and GC in a reply shows much honesty... This is the sort of thing that is going on...

It's not really helping anyone know what the real feelings are and it is also orchestrated... that is, a whole raft of posters are in collusion to shut this board down by overload...

You may not care that much... that's your right.

I wouldn't worry about it Gavin. They have their own forum and that is their safe space. They have been temporarily bouyed by what they experience as winning a battle. Things will setle down.

If this forum is a microcosm of the cyprus problem in general then their are some interesting lessons.

Contrary to popular belief, incursions, agreesion and attacks are not carried out by the subdued, the weak and impotent, they are often carried out by those who win battles. The aggressor rarely steps down and declares peace, they march forward and onwards. The powerful always become more powerful, in the same way as the richer get richer.

This is why it is so important that the TC's carve out a settlement that genuinely protects them as a minority. If they lose, and the GC's win in any deal then the TC's will eventually lose power, regardless of what the EU could offer in protection.

Next year after reunification and after the green line is dismantled Turkish and Greek Cypriots will be 'partying' in the streets, kissing each other, back slapping and doing 'high fives' and wondering what all the fuss was about!

Put your trust in President Talat and President Christopius. You know it makes sense!

More evidence...

It seems we will have to desist from discussion of anything that could be waylaid by the culprits...

They will of course start their own threads then but I for one won't be interested...

Such a shame, it just shows how grown up they are that they think this pyrrhic victory was ever there to be had...

Lewis,

This thread is about attacks on the board...

You start a thread about your dad if you want....

If I start one about property rights you are free to post your thoughts on it..

I am not blind I don't need you to tell be about this I have no illusions about the people who live in and around me but that is not the subject of this thread...

It is about and only about a concerted effort to render this board defunct by a group of members from another board...

If you want to join them that's fine... it is still just more evidence...

PS "You obviously have no moral principles or scruples."

Is a personal attack on my character and as you don't know me I find it offensive... but hey, don't let that stop you...

I'm interested in how you make yourself conversant with the thoughts of everybody else... neat trick if you can do it... bad boasting if you can't..

But as lot's of other people appear know exactly what I'm talking about I guess you havn't bothered to read many of the replies to this or other threads rendered pointless by these attacks.....

Guys enough is enough. Groucho you make a lot of valid points about different issues yet you allow yourself to be sucked in by the likes of Pte Pike and his one dimensional dross that comes out of his mouth their is no validity in his comments he is just a classic wind up merchant. Blackpoolfan,

You WISH everything I say was one-dimensional. More enlightened members are perfectly aware that everything I've been saying on these BBs for the past five-odd years is coming true.

If you buy something that isn't yours to buy you could end up in big trouble. Facing your worst nightmare, in fact. How one-dimensional is that?

So right. The Little Boy in the Sailor Suit can only spout one line, despite the "wealth of knowledgs" claimed . I have pretty much decided to simply ignore the rhetoric as that is all it is. The "more enlightened members" simply disregard the constant verbal dross. as nothing he has said is coming true contrary to his claims. It's rather like his G.C. chums putting their hands up (each other???) and saying "it wasn't me GUV" . I wouldn't even consider it one dimensional, just rubbish!!!!!!!!

It's not just new members who are putting on anti British slogans, some well established members are continually doing so, If they have left the UK and claim they would never return, why don't they give it a rest, they are so boring.

gibson

do we need to go down this road?

i think not!

i will just say that honesty and decency are a virtue.

which many people don't have.

i am sure pikes kids will grow up with both.

i also think it is unfair to bring peoples family into things on the forum.

start with pike by all means but don't bring his family into it!

why not go out and do a good deed for someone today, it will make you feel better!

happy christmas.

fire starter and nige,

Thanks very much for those words of support which I knew I could rely on. I hadn't seen what had developed on the thread because I was with the little ones (sharing childcare I see more of them than poor Mrs Pike) who are getting v. excited because they will be seeing their grandparents shortly.

Hope you have a good Christmas and the same to other friends out there.

FS, I look at my contemporaries who work away all hours and miss seeing their kids in the morning and putting them down at night and I'm so glad I can work from home. It's so good for kids to see the male/female roles as being interchangeable. You look at the youngsters who will never have a male role model in their lives and you can understand why some areas have feral youths. The social inquiry reports attached to the charge sheets I go through daily tell the same story time and time again. Born to fail.

That's what angers me about the "lock 'em all up and build more jails" brigade. Until it's tackled at grass roots and poverty/deprivation is addressed the UK will continue to be one of the failing nations in Europe which already locks up more people than the others.

Well said PP,

I wish my partner could have spent more time with our Son when he was growing up, but when you own your own business it's difficult. Now our son is nearly 20, they are best buddies, so I suppose it worked out in the end, I have to say even though dad wasn't around much, we have never had the Police at the door, and my son is at University with 3A's under his belt for Science, Math's and Chemistry, he's a lovely kind person.

britvic,

That's the trouble isn't it, reconciling personal circumstances with the family. I have to say I know others in your partner's position whose relationships with their kids and the way the youngsters turned out was as excellent as it was for him. Being able to share a pint as adult friends after the growing up process has got to be a sign of a job well done. I look forward to doing the same with my lad in another 11 years or so and 15 years for little madam, and knowing her it will be pints! A lot of how they turn out if the dad is away a lot is down to good mothering and social background, education and personal values. If only kids came with instructions - particularly ones for each model!

Grouch, when you read all the post's back, because of the moderation it look's like your arguing with yourself, in fact it look's like your having a right rant!

Vicki,

I know, I think moderation is a wonderful thing and it makes it so easy to work out who has said what to whom... Still don't know how Mickey's post calling me an idiot is allowed to stand whilst other posts are removed.... I don't want it removed I'm just interested in the thinking behind what does and what doesn't get amended or deleted...

This post has not been edited by a Moderator... it got like this all by itself.

I thought this board was about helping each other on TRNC matters and for the spreading off information of interest to each other. So why do we yet again chase various people and actually aknowledge post that are not relevant. The easiest thing todo is ignore the posts that you do not agree with and they will eventually not have an audience to write too.... merry christmas to you all
