For those who might be intrested i realigned a clients 3M dish and hence he has BBC1 And BBC2 its not perfect 24 hrs of the day i shall spend a bit more time on it all the dish installations i have installed here have Been the Lazer 3M dishes and invacom quad Lnbs with a c120 flange As these have more gain lower noise than the standard single lnb and the lazer feed horn

so those who have a 4mtr dish the bigger the dish the more accurate it has to be even the skew on the lnb is very important dont forget that Astra1N is not in the same positsion as Astra 2D

so it might be worth having a word with iceman

Your profile says you are in Fethiye Turkey...

If you have any experience in this business you should know that signal outside the footprint is not consistent and vary a lot in strength between short distances..

With old Astra2D we could only receive horizontal transponders and no verticals BUT in southern Turkey verticals were much stronger and horizontals suffered..

In Cyprus Paphos could receive 2D 24/7 with a 2.7m dish but central & east Cyprus needed 4m+ dish.

Astra 1N has a much tighter beam and signal reaching Cyprus is much less than the signal we had from 2D.

I have done some work on a couple of 4.2m dishes with a colleague but the result hasn't impressed us so far.

It's no good giving people hope or some signal, some parts of the day.

Now is the best time of the year for satellite signals...come summer, it will deteriorate due to the atmospheric conditions.

Even the old 2D signal used to suffer in summer months.

Hi Iceman,

I certainly know that if there was any solution for the BBC channels you would have come up with it by now. Not knocking the original post but, It did build my hope up when I saw it. You can't beat having a 120 flange and a decent feed horn Here's hoping anyway.

Iceman... I think I am right in saying that Astra 1N is only operating its 'Uk' only beam at the moment... once the European beam is switched on then the signal strength here should be similar to the levels of the Astra 2D. Theory would say that if dishes are re-aligned to the 1N bird then the signal should be there... .do you agree or are there other elements to consider?

Astra 1N is a sat specifically designed for a narrow beam on UK...just as Astra 2D was.

Pan-European beams will be on future next generation sats..

Actually..Astra 1N is only a temporary change and it will be relocated at 19East orbital location early next year to carry German language channels. (end of Free German TV on a small dish)

The UK terrestrıal channels we recently lost to 1N will be transfered to new 1F.
