Can anyone help - Snob, a 2 year old Pekinese went chasing after a dog in heat with 3 other dogs, he went walkabout on Thursday evening about 6pm.

This little dog has never run off before, he is a house dog and cannot fend for himself at all. All he ever did was lie in the sun on her terrace.

He is my neighbour's little dog, her only company and she is, naturally, distraught.

He is a dark coloured Peke and very friendly, we are worried that one of the big male dogs might have injured him. I have spent hours searching for him and did find the group of dogs chasing a bitch in heat but he was no longer with them.

We live seaside in Karsiyaka - near Papattya Sokak. (Behic Yalcinay St).

Please - if you live in this area watch out for him.

Judy above, saw him this morning. So evidently he has not left the area. Just been and told my neighbour this and she was a little less worried. She said, no food, no water - I laughed and told her that the thought of sex would keep him sustained and we had a laugh.

Should anyone spot him p lease phone me on 0533 8606643.

Sue,

Received a phone call from a friend who also saw him yesterday.

She will also keep an eye out for him and either grab "Snob" or/and ring me.

Sincere thanks for Judy, he was sighted by her friends, she came and got us, 10 minutes, but too late, he had gone again.

Sue,

Had more excercise this morning than I have ever had.......thanks to Snob.

I think you, me and a few others have been on the Snob diet!!

Snob has been sighted twice today near to where he lives.

He is running with a pack of dogs that are interested in a bitch that is in season.......hence the reason when he is sighted, he bolts off again.

At least we know he is alive and well and hopefully will return to his owner sooner rather than later.

The owner is a lovely lady and really is fretting that she won't get her beloved pet back.

Well done Sue, she's lucky to have a good neighbour like you.

Please either phone sue on the number she has given or myself (0533 8377706) if you spot the little horror so that we can respond on behalf of the local neighbour.

Jan,

It is sea area.

Heading (from Lapta) towards Karsiyaka square there is a dolmus shelter on the right.

It has an advertisment for Sirinyali fish restaurant painted on it.

Right beside it is a road with a metal barrier running along it towards the sea.

The road is called Sht. Behic Yalcinay Sokak.

If you carry on down this road you come to a fork in the road.

To the left is Papatya Sokak and to the right is where Snob has gone missing from.

The interesting thing is that our road Sht. Behic Yalcinay Sokak is so named after Ayten's father. What a lovely memoriam.

Flipping heck, are my feet aching. Done the rounds twice more late afternoon, seen more dogs than I knew existed in this area.

Fingers crossed that he will come home tomorrow.

If anyone sees him, please grab him. He will not bite you, he is a lovely natured little thing. One thing for sure though, he is definitely going to have the snip when he comes home for putting Ayten through all this worry!

Not a sign, bit worried now because the bitch which was in season is now back home (impregnated probably) and tied up again.

I was sure that Snob would then return home but he has not done so. One of the other dogs (Badem) has also returned home.

Where the hell is he? Ayten keeps saying that someone will take him and sell him in the South. I said nonsense, he will come back soon.

Hope I am right on that one.

Very disappointed, but my neighbour, Ayten has just had a telephone call from a boy's mother (Judy - the area where you parked tonight) her son, saw him this morning but could not get him because the school bus came and he had to get on it - so, I will go tomorrow morning at around 7am when no-one is about and see if I can spot him.

Fingers crossed.

Got in the car in my jammies this morning and went round to where the dog was last seen by the schoolboy. Not a sign.

Thank goodness no-one saw me - not a pretty sight in striped jammies!

Will continue to search.

Ayten appears depressed today, I think she has given up hope.

Wish I could just find him, someone must be giving him something to eat. Peke's can hardly pull a bin over can they?

This is mostly for Judy's information. Went this afternoon to Antonio's house. He also said that the Peke was with Alice (his retreiver type dog) this morning. Unfortunately, when we found Alice this afternoon the little dog was not with him.

We spent 2.5 hours this afternoon just slowly cruising around the neighbourhood, Ayten knows so many people and she told everyone to look for him. She also has a lot of family (cousins) who will watch out for him.

We can do no more now, Antonio said he will grab him next time he sees him and phone Ayten.

I will be round there again tomorrow morning at about 06.30 (worth a try).

Thanks for all support.

Thanks for the update Sue.

At least Snob is still about, which is good news....even if he is being evasive!!

Hopefully the more people looking for him the more chance we have of getting him back to Ayten.

Will keep looking.

Done the 7am cruise again this morning and again at 10.30 with Ayten.

Nothing at all, sightings are drying up now.

Please keep looking but I fear that someone has taken him into their house.

This is so sad, another good reason to get them neutered as soon as possible - they aren't any good for breeding with then and less likely to be stolen. I do hope that he turns up.

He has been seen today in the company of a man with another little dog on a lead down seaside in Karsiyaka. The bread delivery man told Ayten but too late (why did he not take her phone number when we asked him to keep his eyes open?)

Back to the top. Someone must have taken this little dog into their house now as no further sightings. Let's hope that he is still local, he cannot be kept in forever.

I took his owner shopping today, she is totally distracted and just kept opening the window and shouting "Snob". A couple of people looked oddly at us! Suppose under different circumstances I would have been laughing about that but as Ayten does not even know what Snob means she would not understand.

Another two hours driving round for no result.

I would give anything to get this dog back to her, she is so lonely without him.

Perhaps offering a reward would do it - what do you think about it?

Apparently Feridun (who delivers bread) saw Snob today but my hubby was unable to pinpoint exactly where. We are not far from Antonio so he is definitely still in the general area.

I feel so sorry for the Aysten - the company of dogs is so important to elderly people on their own.

Normally I wouldnt approve of rewards because they encourage people to kidnap, but I think in this case a small one might be justified if she can afford it. Maybe be word of mouth, rather than advertising.

It sounds as if the little tyke is a gregarious fellow - do you have dogs yourself Sue or could someone with a friendly dog walk it around the areas he has been seen(perhaps with a pocketful of biscuits )to see if that would attract him. Sorry I would offer one of mine but I am too far away.

I dont know if this helps, but many years ago when my now big fat spaniel was a tiny

puppy he went missing for two weeks. I had asked at all the houses within range but given up hope when one evening there was a knock on the door and there was a neighbours small son with a disreputable, filthy and flea ridden - but otherwise healthy and well fed - scrap of fur in his arms!!!

Has nobody got a bitch on heat they could take for a walk in that area, if they are brave enough. That was the lure in the first place after all.

The breadman contacted Ayten yesterday morning to say he had seen Snob. I was halfway to Girne when she telephoned me, anyway we rushed back and got her into the car and the breadman, bless him was waiting to show us where he had seen Snob.

When we got there and walked a little, we saw a little Pekinese (a younger one) which obviously, is what he had seen.

Spirits went back into boots and we took her back home weeping.

I am now convinced that he is in someone's house, hope they use him to mate (or whatever) and then kick him back out where he can be seen. Not giving up on him yet.

I have asked Ayten for a photograph but she has never had a camera so no photos.

What a shame. We could have done posters.

One clue though, his eyes are not so good. When you look closely at them they have a blue sheen. (I don't know Pekinese very well though, perhaps they all have it)
